Voted hot for the bargain price, however I would advice to have a look at the critical 1 to 3 stars reviews, not as good as it was supposed to be at its original price. If I hadn't already bought a TP-link Archer D9 on Ebay for the same price I would probably have bought this myself, btw.
Sorry to be dumb but would this work with a Virgin media super hub 2 in modem mode and if so would there be noticeably better WiFi as my hub 2 is pants

Yes, it would work with VM in Modem mode. To be honest SuperHub 2 is far superior to the new modems (Hub 3.0 ) - just google Puma 6 latency issues.
I always go for TP-Link stuff found them very reliable. Only time I had a problem with one router that was in the last month of the 3 year warranty, they replaced it with a new one straightaway.
Does this work with Sky Q?
just picked up another bt home hub 5 as a wireless access point for around a fiver.. cant fault them for all intents and purposes. worth looking into if thats what your after. also has gigabit ethernet and dual band with a/c
Does it have parental control ? WiFi and internet access scheduling ?

Is your hub definitely “pants”, I’m not saying it isn’t, but it could be it’s location or a setting making it pants. I have one and a reboot help every so often.
Openwrt runs beautifully on these - Well worth it.

I bought them for this purpose, but ended up reading that it requires serial port download of the firmware. Can you please share if that was the case for you?
fwiw, serial no longer required to flash openwrt. See 'install via web gui' in:
openwrt.org/toh…_v3

OpenWrt 19.07 snapshots have started to appear and do include LuCI web interface. Install at your own risk !

Warning: it can be difficult/impossible to revert back to Linksys firmware if you are not happy with OpenWrt.
