This Wireless-N router from Linksys aka Cisco seems rather cheap especially if you want to upgrade from a b/g to N

The Wireless-N Home Router is really three devices in one box. First, there's the Wireless Access Point, which lets you connect to the network without wires. There's also a built-in 4-port full-duplex 10/100 Switch to connect your wired-Ethernet devices together. Finally, the Router function ties it all together and lets your whole network share a high-speed cable or DSL Internet connection. The Access Point built into the Router uses the very latest wireless networking technology: Wireless-N (draft 802.11n). By overlaying the signals of multiple radios, Wireless-N's Multiple In, Multiple Out (MIMO) technology multiplies the effective data rate. Unlike ordinary wireless networking technologies that are confused by signal reflections, MIMO actually uses these reflections to increase the range and reduce dead spots in the wireless coverage area. The robust signal travels farther, maintaining wireless connections up to 3 times farther than standard Wireless-G.

shame it's not gigabit

Cheapest price I've seen an N grade router but it says it's not available on the site.

yeah, kind of defeats the point of having wireless @ > 100mbps if you're gonna use this to share data between machines on the same network.

However, for this crazy price, you can't expect everything! The newer Linksys models are in the region of £60.

Out of stock?

Wireless bandwidth is very theoretical and take with a pinch of salt.

A 100 mbps wired lan will be in almost all cases, faster than the 'n' wireless on this box.

Shame it's out of stock :P

Indeed.

I have a linksys wrt160n-uk and communicate around the house. Although the computers connect to the router at > 135mbps, the sustained transfer rate is significantly lower than this. It appears to be down to the processing power of the router more than anything else as when communicating peer to peer the rates are much higher. But then again, many of these are little intel pxa boards, which are quite underpowered for all they are expected to do.
