Waiting for mine to arrive (the £119.99 deal) Can you please advise whether you enable or disable Windows updates, and also what malware, clean-up utilities you recommend. Thanks

Windows 10 has Windows Defender, which offers basic antivirus/malware protection. I updated mine to the Windows 10 "Fall" (Autumn?) update, and then found a settings page where you tell it remove temporary files, which saved about 8Gb of storage. Also bought a 32Gb MicroSD card, which doubles the storage capacity.

Have to say its a great little machine. I also have an iPad (work supplied), and I actually think if you have the slightest bit of techie about you, these are far better machines. I work in web development, and although the keyboard is slightly cramped (no wonder given its size), I did a bit of work on it last night via Remote Desktop, and it was absolutely fine. Even though I have a Bluetooth keyboard for my iPad, I wouldn't even think about trying to do serious work on it
just missed it, had it on 129.99 and when I wanted to add it to the basket it was already gone

Thank you.
its £149.99 now...what the..! I'll expire it now
Just a FYI, a few have asked about Linx cases, particularly for the 1010. From looking up the Linx Light 10 (to see if Linx have added it to their website), I noticed they now have official cases available, made by Targus.

Seems to be sold at Ebuyer, MoreComputers, Ballicom, GameSeek, even Freemans catalogue!

This is BACK ON at £129.99 guys for Cyber Monday - ships out December 3rd!
It's been back at £129.99 for most of today. That's with shipping direct from Amazon. The £149.99 price was Laptop Outlet I think.
If I order now and then someone else has a better deal on Cyber Monday will Amazon allow me to cancel if I get in touch before the ship date (3rd Dec)?

Yes definitely. You won't be charged until it ships.

To clear up previous operating system files, type Clean in to the search box in Windows 10, click OK, wait some time for it to scan, then the disk clean up window will open now click on 'clean up my system files' then it starts the scan again (bad bad interface design there Microsoft! Truly awful) and then scroll through the list and select what you want to get rid of, this can include files left over from Windows update and previous operating system files. You can free up literally gigabytes of space using this tool.

This article explains how to use Disk Cleanup >

I've been using this since the 119 deal. Great bit of kit. It's perfect for the parents.

Edge is really fast. Installed Teamviewer with no problem, so can remote desktop into it when they break things.
The store is limited, but if you want a browsing device with a few simple apps (weather, lottery numbers...) then it's brilliant.

I'm an Android fan and all my mobile devices are running it, but there is no denying how fast and smooth this tablet is. Scrolling on edge and moving around pages is very pleasant.

There are a few areas where the tablet mode needs to be improved in Windows 10, but hardly anything serious.

I've put Kaspersky on it, where I was fully expecting a bit of a speed hit. Nope - nothing. Still absolutely beautiful to use.

The keyboard is pretty good too. The trackpad isn't perfect, but nothing a £7 wireless mouse from Amazon can't fix. screen resolution is totally a non-issue at this size. I was expecting it to look poor, but it really doesn't.

Hard to believe this is a full blown PC, that's of quite a high quality. I genuinely struggle to understand how I got this for £120. I just wish it had the level of apps Android / IOS has....but you can't have it all
What's the returns policy like on this item with Amazon. Can you order and have a play and see if its up to the task.
How well would this cope with Visual Studio?

How well would this cope with Visual Studio?

I use Visual Studio on the similarly specced Asus T100 running Windows 10. Desktop solutions (eg WinForms and WPF) are fairly snappy to build and run, but Web based stuff is frustrating slow. I put that down to IIS being a bit more resource hungry.

It will run, but don't expect miracles in terms of performance. Also the latest Visual Studio Community is about 5GB so bear that in mind with the limited storage.
How well can this run minecraft and other simple games? Thinking for 10yo daughter.
i have bought this on the £119.99 deal. seems a great piece of kit. My only concern is i cannot plug anything into the 2USB ports. The connections seem tight & slightly out of shape?

Absolutely, they have the best returns policy you will ever come across. They won't kick up a fuss if you do that, at all, in fact you don't even have to speak to a human being, just request the return via your order history and follow the instructions.

I found that too - in fact I find that with quite a few new tablets with USB ports. The first time you use them you may need to use a bit of gentle but persistent force to get something plugged in. after that you should find its much better. Dont brute force it, just try a firm push. If it really won't play ball then contact Amazon.

There is a hack/trick you can use to fool Windows into thinking your MicroSD Card is part of the C: drive, and therefore allows you to install Visual Studio on it - saving a few gigabytes (although it still wants to install stuff like the various .NET framework files on to the C: drive).

I've installed Visual Studio Community 2015 on mine. It is a little slow (as expected), but I don't intend to use it for hard core development.

I find the machine works better if you use it as a "console" (using Remote Desktop) to connect to a proper PC. Then, the screen resolution, keyboard and trackpad make it feel like a proper little laptop.
might bite if it ever gets below £100
It isn't going to go below £100 with keyboard - not gonna happen!

Temporarily out of stock again now - you can still order at £129.99, there's no ETA on delivery yet though.

Revo Uninstaller is good for stopping autorun apps that you don't use i.e. these apps automatically start when windows starts making the PC seem sluggish to begin with. Revo has other utilities too like a junk cleaner and a more advanced uninstaller than windows own.

Probably the same solution, but I think it was this link I followed.
Received mine today, was faulty with intermittent graphical corruption in windows on the right hand side of the screen.
@pcfarrar - software issue or hardware issue?

@pcfarrar - software issue or hardware issue?

Definitely a hardware issue, every couple of seconds it gets interference and backlight dims with wavy lines on 1/3 of the screen. Was doing it on BIOS boot up logo too
Edited by: "pcfarrar" 30th Nov 2015
sounds like a hardware issue to me - unlucky! good luck on getting it replaced (although I find Amazon good like that
Got mine today after ordering last Friday morning. I'm really pleased with it so far. It's my first experience of Windows 10 and first impressions seem to be not bad (much better than Windows 8 ).

Are there any recommendations on MicroSD cards to buy/use?

No idea what that's supposed to be linked to...
Is 32GB the maximum for the micro sd. I have a Linx 10"( not this model) and I've got 64gb micro card in. Thanks for any advice.
I think its 128gb - but 32gb plenty good for my needs as I don't use it that often.
