No doubt this will get shot down in flames and be as cold as a polar bears paws, but for £229 with the money off code (TDX-GRYK), I think it’s hard to beat for people on a budget that can’t stretch to more expensive laptops on the market. I know it’s not going to be a high end gaming laptop, but for the money it’s a great deal - read the reviews, all very good.

Laptop also has an M.2 slot if you want to install a M.2 SSD (check the SSD dimensions).

Looks like people have reported problems with the Wifi and Touchpad on these though. Be aware.

Girlfriend bought this the other day. Agreed for the money it’s hard find anything better. If you can afford to throw another 100 notes you can get an i3 maybe with a ssd but I guarantee it won’t be as portable and sleek as this.

There’s a veeeeey similar laptop on box.co.uk for a little less. I think it’s just rebranded. Never dealt with that company so was pleased to find the £20-off code on Tesco.

I will say that it has not been collected yet so I still have some reservations but I’d have the same doubts about any laptop at this kind of money.

For future reference box.co.uk are a decent reliable company imo. They always pop up when Hp have cashback deals on the mini servers and that’s where I purchased mine from.

As I said we’ve not collected it yet. I’ll let you know if I remember.
Looks like the £20 off code expired at midnight last night I’m afraid. Still a great buy for £249, but obviously would have been nicer at £229!
I read some very questionable reviews about this laptop. In the end I went with the slightly pricIer Acer Swift 1 (http://www.argos.co.uk/product/7455926). and have been delighted with the build quality, especially the full HD (matte) screen. Performance is better than expected once I removed the Acer bloatware.

I've also been using it to stream Steam games from my desktop.

I bought 3 Acer Swift 3 laptops before Christmas I fitted m2 ssd's in addition to the main hard drive & dud con want installs and they absolutely scream along I was really surprised by the build quality really nice. Obviously it's not an IPS screen but they're budget laptops so....
No touchscreen . Negative

Strange that the acer 3 is not ips but its slightly smaller cheaper brother the acer swift 1 is full HD and also an ips screen.

Big negative to Sam's constant trolling, some people have no interest in touchscreen Sam.
I have a laptop and a netbook with touchscreen that I've never used.
Voted positive.
I do like this laptop, but without the discount the Swift 1 at Argos is a better buy. Click

Yeah, I'd definitely go for the Acer Swift 1 in your link over this 'no brand' laptop.

People have also reported problems with the wifi and touchpad on these Linx laptops (the previous guy on HUKD ended up returning his).

Looks like people have reports problems with the Wifi and Touchpad on these though:

Maybe the earlier batch had issues with Wifi, but I looked at all the recent customer reviews had been excellent and no complaints.

Wifi performance can be pretty subjective though. Or it could be badly installed internal antennae affecting performance. The wifi performance on my EZBook was dog slow out of the box compared to my other laptops for example, though technically, it 'worked'.

If you hadn't bought it from China you could have sent it back.

I don't need to send it back. Like said, I just re-seated the wifi antennae to the AC3165 chip. All you need is a Phillips head screwdriver because its clear that normal throughout is high.

"Intel Wireless-AC 3165 range is good and the speeds are excellent. I can now get the full 300mbps upload and download speeds my fiber optic line provides. I’m no longer limited to 50Mbps like the Wireless N model (Version 1 & 2)"

Looks exactly like the ezbook 3 pro.

Looks exactly like the ezbook 3 pro.

It indeed does look similar but this has a UK keyboard layout, better processor and very importantly to me a UK warranty although the 3 pro has an IPS screen that this lacks.

I would definitely avoid this laptop though and buy the Acer swift one from Argos that is currently £269 and much better quality.

I already have the ezbook 3 pro version 4. I dont regret it at all, i use it mostly to watch video with some webbrowsing.

On paper the n4200 is slightly better but in real world performance there is no difference at all.

In fact after watching this video they were completely neck and neck until the n3450 finished encoding a video 30 seconds faster than the n4200.

Hey just to let you know my initial impressions -

Screen is nice. Could be ips but not sure how to check for sure. Colours don’t distort as the viewing angles narrow.

Initial windows update took a long time but it’s all working well and the mouse pad still works.

Aluminium body is very nice and is almost apple like. Machined edges give it an iPhone 5s finish. The gold version is very close to a rose gold finish.

Startup and shutdown is very fast. Internet browsing and word ducuments work well (as they should). I’ve not tried any demanding programs but within reason I would think it could handle a fair workload. WiFi seems decent but I’ve not tested it by any standards.

Overall worth every penny of £229. Best bang for your buck in terms of quality portability and price. Hopefully it’s reliable.

Thank you for posting back, if the panel has good off-angle viewing, solid blacks not washed out grey and the colours just pops then pretty certain is an IPS screen. As Stated on AOL website under key informaion. CLICK
How's the battery lasting?
Thanks again.

Definitely IPS, also confirmed by Linx themselves. My battery life is showing 8h 7m remaining at 99% - power mode "better performance" with the setting bar 3/4 of the way up.

Agreed with Suvvey on the construction, its like a Macbook Air but with shiny chamfered edges like the iPad Mini 4 or something. Screen destroys the air too (obvs).
