for the hard of thinking digital = 1 or 0 (on or off)

A £3 lead is as good as a £13 lead

Voted cold

Your gonna get slated for this with all the talk of hdmi cables of late, but I'll vote it warm.

Im not a pup no more, so I can take the flak!
But thanks for the concern - rep added!;-)

I voted hot, I think it's a good deal

Got one of these cables myself paid 9.99 from play.com a couple of weeks ago, these cables are very good as i compared it with a cheap hdmi cable and this one give a better picture, better contrast, colour and sound! RECOMMENDED

Yeah I got one of these ages ago for £9.99 or something and very happy with it.
I originally purchased a cheap cable from ebay and it worked intermitently, any slight movement and the picture is lost - OK probably bad connections but it does show some cheap and cheaply made cables will give you problems.

If you want a good cable and happy to pay this price I think its a good buy

Yes, you know your stuff. Did someone down the pub tell you this?

Don't see many Euro fighters zipping around with Maplin cables do we - they're all gold for some reason......;-)

I have one of these and there is a notable difference in the quality when compared to the tin plated connector that came with my Toshiba HD-E1 (also available from Play.com)

no, but avforums.com plus common sense did:thumbsup:

How can a DIGITAL signal degrade?:whistling:

Do you see many gold plated USB cables for sale? :giggle:

£3 cable will indeed be fine, it's only for long cable runs that a higher-quality cable makes a difference.

Costs no more than 50p/metre to make something that does the job.

btw:

£13.49 for 3m and also gold

Not a special price.

Since the signal from your HDDVD player is encrypted, how can it possibly be better? It either works, or it doesn't. If it drops bits, then you won't see "enhanced contrast", you'll see nothing at all. If you see nothing at all, it's faulty and you get a refund.

The only way the picture could be better is if the cable is somehow hacking the encryption, applying an image filter to it, then re-encrypting. All without the use of any electronics - an impressive trick.
