1GB memory. Is this a full OS?
If so I wouldn't bother

It will manage most general tasks like browsing and watching movies. A tweaked Windows 8.1 install shouldn't use 400MB of RAM and paging file on the EMMC should be nippy.

Remember to add delivery.

shame battery is so small

Been this price for ages (and been on here several times with Dabs/BT/Ebuyer et al).
Works great despite the 1GB memory.
£30 trade in offer linked on the Ebuyer webpage.

So my Barnes & Noble BN NookHD+ with 1.5ghz Dual Core Processor, 32GB Storage, 1GB Ram and 9" 1920x1080p screen which I paid £80 for more than doubles the speed (1,952) of the Linx 7" tablet with Quad Core on cpubenchmark.net??? Glad I got my Nook and installed Cyanogenmod Android Kitkat 4.4 software!

Office 365 install must be worth half the price of the tablet, and with £30 cash back if you have a cheap tablet kicking about that you can trade in, you are getting the tablet for next to nothing - expecting a lot more Windows tablets in run up to Christmas. Heat added.

ah, but you're running an inefficient OS and app framework on it, so it all balances out

By the way, isn't your res better than that at 1920x1280?

Are you comparing ARM Android to x86 Windows? You shouldn't.

off the subject....I love my nook hd+....I am now leaving the room :O)

Take a look at reviews on You Tube, these are very good for the money. However, this deal has been posted many times from various vendors so won't vote on this one.

Bargain price for a cheap W8 tablet.
Doesn't the 1tb Onedrive allocation end when the Office 365 subscription ends though? It will revert to 15gb.

anyone care to comment on how good flash playback and browsing are on these devices?

Flash will run great.

How good are these tablets really?
I'd probably use it for Chrome, PDFs on the built in reader app and maybe putty.

What is battery life like?

More than capable. Waiting on battery reviews myself.

It is nice to see a 7" tablet with Windows - but 1GB of RAM? That sounds painful at best.

No thanks

Android FTW!

I believe its this tablet in the new £349 xbox bundles that will be around next week.

lol windows....welcome to 1990

Chrome, really? IE is one of the best tablet browsing experiences. Try before changing, you may just like it.

Metro IE is the best browsing experience, hands down, however, there are a lot of times when the addons are worth the trade-off of Chrome if I need LastPass for example.
I'm very much tempted by one of these cheapie tabs, I just don't know how good/bad it'll turn out.

What are you doing in the thread then? Android is a consumption OS, and always will be.

tapi

Firefox had a Windows 8 app but they removed it. I stopped using Chrome and needed to sync between desktop and mobile so IE was out of the question (without using 3rd party software).

Because?

Very simple because of its open nature. It has to try and cater for vast amount of differing hardware, SOCs, screen sizes and resolutions and apps are just not in the same league as IOS for example on tablets. Apple wins in this respect as it only has to cater for about 7 or 8 devices that run IOS8. Android is not great on tablets, software is what makes the experience, apps are software obviously and many just don't work that nicely in the tablet form factor in comparison to the other eco systems.

Not a fanboy either as I own an Android based phone and tablet.

If you have a poor Android tablet, maybe, Nexus 7 (2013) here & no complaints from me at all

If I am doing a lot of typing on the go then I switch to my chrome book c720p
