Looks ok, but which store please?

That's £10 cheaper than elsewhere, but it wouldn't qualify for the £50 trade-in offer thart Linx are running at the moment. However, the t&c's of the trade-in offer are quite restrictive, so swings n roundabouts as to whether this is a good deal or not.

Cheapest Linx keyboard/stand I have seen is on Amazon for £25, but currently out of stock.

The Argos deal has the keyboard but more expensive. If you have a relevant old tablet to trade-in then best getting from one of the recommended retailers.

So what's the verdict with these Linx Tablets (especially the 10 inch version). Are they a bit of a bargain or is there a reason for them being so cheap?

I can't seem to find any reviews or verdicts online at all.

I believe MS no longer charge a fee for 10" and under tablets to use Win 8, plus Intel pushing their system on a chip (SoC) processors and offering them cheap.

are they full windows?

Yes, that's the beauty of them. I didn't actually mind RT but there are a handful of things you can't do (like Dropbox editing or offline syncing).

HUDDERSFIELD!! wahey.

Can anyone comment from experience on the gaming performance of these? Would like to play GTA San Andreas with 360 controller but am I expecting too much?

Only has a 2MP camera on the rear, even the Linx Commtiva N700 7" android tablet had a 3MP camera, that model is about 4 years old now.

Ive not had chance to use one of these yet but I do know that they were designed in collaboration with Microsoft themselves to try and flood the market. These are going to be everywhere

i havent got this tablet but ive got the Onda v975w which is almost identical spec.

GTA San Andreas will run fine on this tablet and 360 controllers work perfectly. i wouldnt plan on running current gen games on this. i managed to get GTA4 running on my tablet but on the lowest possible settings and i still only got 24fps.

personally id get the Onda v975w over this, about £15 more on Amazon but it has a retina display (very same one from the ipad air) and the same design as the ipad air so gettin cases/covers etc is alot easier

1 complaint is that these Intel Atom z3537f have a few issues with the SD card reader and read/write speeds. alot of cards wont write faster than 4-6MBs even if you card supports faster. this may be fixed with future BIOS updates.

Thanks for replying

I know it's a bit of a thread hijack but I'm glad you posted this as im looking for a surface clone that I can use for ms office tasks and a bit of browsing. I would want a keyboard case as I could end up taking it out for work or possibly a dock. Have you any ideas on either of these two?

How many folk will be taking this out to photograph things? If you don't have a phone/digital camera to take photos then you shouldn't be allowed near technology.

Exactly, i'd prefer it didn't have a rear camera at all and just a front one for Skype use. Absolutely detest tablets being used for taking photos/video.

well not sure on this but my Onda v975w came with Office 365 and since it design is the exact same dimensions of the ipad air, its easy to find keyboard cases or keyboards docks. just make sure you get bluetooth docks/keyboards etc as the ipad air uses the lightning connection and these tablets use micro usb connections

i was hesitant about buying an unknown chinese make for obvious reasons but ive been really impressed with my Onda v975w. it completely crushes my ipad 3 in terms of functionality although windows appstore is miles behind Apples appstore but thats balance out with the ability to run proper windows software

Post your video review up for us.

Anyone notice this is a 32 bit OS running on a 64 bit CPU?

There is a 4GB hidden partition on device, presumably a recovery partition. Any ideas if it would therefore be possible to restore/recover to a 64bit OS?

The BIOS is 32bit so you cant install Windows 64bit on these (not without alot of messing).

the would be no benefit to having Windows 64bit on these. 64bit takes up more room, cant run older 16bit programs and the isnt 4gb+ of ram to utilize.

you can install a fresh Windows 8.1 pro and remove the 4gb partition + windows with Bing but youd need all the correct drivers and a powered USB hub as you only have 1 micro usb socket and the isnt enough amps to power a keyboard+Mouse and a flashdrive, which are both needed for installing windows

Saw this posted here a few days ago and went into my local Sainsburys to look for one. Turns out they don't have any tablets at all - just a small selection of smartphones and TVs, even though they're a 'superstore'. How am I supposed to find one of these?

Windows with bing doesn't come in 64-bit that's why.

Had the same thing when I called up my local, but call up Sainsbury's Careline (0800 636 262) and ask them to find out which stores near you have stock, and then go into the store and ask them to have a look in the back, the staff have no clue about these.

Many thanks OP, managed to grab one on Friday.

Why wouldn't this qualify? It looks like only auction sites and marketplace sellers are excluded.

Sorry, had a further look and although it looks like only auction sites and marketplace sellers are excluded in the terms and conditions when you go to fill the claim form in there is only a short list of vendors to chose from.

Why couldn't they be helpful and put this list somewhere prominent to see before you purchase?

It would also be helpful if they made the list of accepted trade-ins more accessible...... You doing see it until you claim and realise that your **** Chinese import isn't included.

Is there a list? Is it further on the claim form?

I thought any working, undamaged one was OK.

Whoops, I see you said when you go to claim so obviously further on the claim form.

There is a list of accepted retailers Qualifying Products. You'll also notice that there is no restriction on accepted trade-in devices as long as they work, are undamaged and have a screen size of 7" or greater.

When you go through the claim form, it will ask for the following:

- Retailer where you bought the device
- Invoice Number
- Serial Number of your new tablet
- Make of the trade-in tablet
- Model of the trade-in tablet

Cheers, I found the list of retailers but after a previous comment I assumed there was a list of trade-in tablets that was on a drop down list on the claim form.

Didn't want to buy, obviously not from Sainsburys if my trade-in wasn't on the list.

No, there is no list of devices on the claim form. The question relating to the make and model are free type text boxes, not drop-downs. You can enter whatever you like in to those boxes.

It gets activated once you use an office product. I am using it but have a full office 2013 pro licence anyway which I will revert back to in 12 months time. I have just applied my windows 8.1 pro key from my old laptop and its happily taken that, so now I have got rid of the ghastly bing search. Overall I am happy with this as a pc replacement.

Can you upgrade from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10?
