The title is Argos', not mine, but I'll remove it - didn't notice it to be honest!
I have one of these and its brilliant for streaming Steam and XBox One.
Can the controller be used as a mouse (Inc left, right click) when navigating windows?
How does this fare at this price vs similar windows tablets with this spec? I've been after a windows tablet for a little while and don't need the gaming side of this. would this be a good buy or can I get same spec for cheaper without the gaming attachments?
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help

I'm pretty sure the Linx 7 and 8 don't have the 5-pin connector required - not sure about the Vision, but I doubt it! Can't see it on the pictures.

So much choice. Very pleased with all the prices as well. Really fancy a windows tablet.
I should point out the Onda V820 CH really doesn't get good feedback from TechTablets but the others are worth consideration.

Dropped in price to £89.... Can't say no to that.
Will put RemixOS on this and dual boot to android.
Hopefully the control dock will work for Android games.
Kodi should run smooth being CherryTrail and 2GB ram.

Wooo 100° heat... Finally
love this tablet streams my xbox one ps4 and steam games and now that steam allows 3rd party streaming it can ewven do my gog account. the controller isn't the most conformable thing to use it's pretty awesome for racing and sports games but for fps i just attach a real controller and put the pad on a stand. fantastic price!

if you have a ps4 it will also stream that now, allthough you will need to attach your controller via usb :-)
There's a chance that you'll end up with one of the two that I took back to Argos.

A real shame as I really wanted it to work well and the controls are actually quite decent, but I have never owned such a flakey device, ever. Put simply, the WiFi chip just isn't up to the job of streaming Xbox One, PS4 or Steam.

Despite 3 weeks of constant effort, updates, roll backs, different router and WiFi access points, wired Ethernet connection, a USB stick from Lynx to set it back to factory settings and 4 different friends' houses, I gave up and took it back. When the replacement didn't work either, that went back too. Many people have had them without any issues, but after weeks or diagnostics and effort, I had to conclude it wasn't fit for purpose.

Make sure you can return it if you're unlucky as I was.

I couldn't disagree more. I have one and admittedly there are issues (e.g. cracking audio sound when headphones are plugged in, but the WiFi is very strong.

It's wireless AC as opposed to N like most tablets in this price range. With a decent router (I use an Asus AC68u) you should have no problems streaming whatsoever.

i was about to ask about remixos! I installed it on my asus t100. but you need a keyboard to select it on my dell xps 18? maybe can work out how to boot to it from windows. also i could only instal remixos on c drive on asus t100. couldn't get it to boot from external sd card. how about you?
Booting RemixOS from micro SD didn't work for the various devices I tried but, booting from the RemixOS USB works well.
Ultimately, don't like the idea of USB sticks because it's much cooler to dual boot off C- drive.
Only down side with C drive OS sharing on these tablets is the lack of space (32Gb isn't really enough to share).
I'll have a crack at installing RemixOS on this when it arrives. Hopefully it should handle 1080p video via Kodi and HDMI out.
The wait begins....

What wireless chip does yours have? Mine didn't have AC support, confirmed by both myself, multiple forum members and Lynx themselves.
wow. does this come with the gaming controller cradle at this price!!!???

Strange, says Wireless AC from a few retailers, even on the Linxtablet.co.uk forum. I'll have a better look when I'm on my pc.

Edit: According to this, no linxtablet.co.uk/vie…944 but I can see lots of misinformation about this tablet. Many websites still state 5MP/2MP cameras (even the Linx outlet linxoutlet.co.uk/ind…uct but not the official Linx Vision website) as well as Wireless AC.

Though FluffyRedLobster says

Wifi Analyzer also states I'm connected on channel 40, 5.200GHz using 20MHz bandwidth. So yeah, I'd say it's ac compatible

Confusing!

The AC 3165 should support 5ghz but the two I owned never found and (therefore never connected to) any 5ghz networks I tried.

Here's a response I got from Lynx support when trying to get it working - note the last line. From the countless research I done at the time, the AC 3165 seems quite flaky in a whole range of devices that uses it.

I'm not trying to damn the tablet as others have genuinely good experience with it, but mine became a massive headache

Hi xxxWhen plugged in, please press and hold the power button in on the … Hi xxxWhen plugged in, please press and hold the power button in on the devices for 25-30 seconds (when Red/Blue LED is showing), this will re-boot the OS without doing a data wipe (full reset).Once this has been done, click the power button in for another few seconds, the backlight should show on the screen and it should just boot up.When you upgrade from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10, or Windows 10 to the new November update of Windows 10, called Build 1511, then there are some options to revert which we would suggest being attempted. From Windows go Start > Settings > Update & Security > Recovery Then depending on what version of Windows you had originally they will see different options:• On a device that was originally Windows 8.1 there should be an option based on the screenshot attached labelled “Go back to Windows 8.1” - (GoBackOptions_win81_win10.png).• On a device that was originally Windows 10 there should be an option based on the screenshot attached labelled “Go back to an earlier build” - (GoBackOptions_win10_B1511.png).This is the easiest method to restore the machine back to the previous version of Windows. These options are only available for 30 days, after which the backup files from the upgrade are deleted to free up space. If the upgrade was attempted and the machine ran out of power, then it will probably break the tablet and they won’t be able to get back into Windows. If this is the case, we can send out recovery media on USB stick, which has fixed pretty much most of the customers who have had this issue. Please advise by return if this resolves the issue? Please reply linxsupport@exertis.co.uk.Please also be aware that the unit will only ever connect to a 2.4GHz connection.

I do not do any gaming but this looks a like a good deal for tablet for general use, is there any reason why I couldn't use it like that ?
Nice price if you get one like new, i would be scared of getting one with dead pixels from return.
Delivery is tomorrow, so will give update regarding condition.

Agreed, I had one that was so flaky it had to go back. There was very little support and no ability to roll back when Windows Update 1511 broke it completely.
How did Windows Update 1511 break it exactly?
Would a full restore not fix any problems?
1511 broke wireless stability. Lynx had to send me a USB stick to roll it back which worked but then as soon as Windows 10 did its thing, it broke again.

I owned my two for a few weeks and spent 95% of that time trying to get it them to work.

I should've given up sooner in hindsight.
Edited by: "AbbaTheHorse" 17th May 2016
Had the same thing, Linx sent me a USB with the restore image. Unfortunately they took over 2 weeks to do it, so I returned the tablet. Currently, 1511 is waiting to be installed, I do not have the courage to upgrade the replacement I purchased.
How do you turn off windows 10 updates (to stop 1511)?
