Lemon Balm tincture or cream is very effective treatment.

Some people take the amino acid Lysine > patient.co.uk/for…186

There's also Herstat > herstat.com/

Anyway none of the above are as cheap as this deal.

+1 for lysine - more effective than acyclovir for me

I've not heard of the Minor Ailments Scheme, what's that all about? Heat for this nevertheless, aciclovir is the mutt's danglies for cold sores.

nah, we have to pay for everything in England....

It's a scheme run by pharmacies to treat minor ailments such as thrush, mouth ulcers, threadworm and headlice amongst others. I work in a pharmacy and many people don't know about it or forget about it, so I thought I'd inform/remind people. You get a consultation with the pharmacist who advises the best treatment and course of action for you, plus the whole service is free! It frees up GPs, you get free treatment and the pharmacy gets a consultation fee.

If anybody is interested, here is more information:
NI: hscbusiness.hscni.net/pdf…pdf - Free to anyone

Scotland: scotland.gov.uk/Pub…9/1 - Free if you are eligible for free prescriptions

Semmingly Wales do it now too: bbc.co.uk/new…958, torfaen.gov.uk/en/…spx - Free to anyone.

Lovely stuff Aciclovir, had this via a IV drip and got renal (Kindey) failure.

Obviously the prevention here is to kiss men instead. Come here men give me your free loving as I shall not be thwart from beauty by scurrilous nasty lip infections.

This is exactly the same as Zovirax etc whih are usually around the £5/6 mark so good deal. As for the minor ailments scheme in Scotland, you can only sign up for this of you have one of the exemptions listed on the back of a prescription, so even though everyone gets a free prescription not everyone can join the minor ailments scheme. I would much rather pay 50p than try and get a doctor's appointment at my local practice!
