Nice one! ☺

yeah i was gonna say, i didnt see any in store today...

White ones are alright, the fake-wood style ones look a bit rubbish imo

Cheaper option than Ikea which is pretty hard to achieve generally!

Though Ikea quality is better usually. Also need to look at the size, they might be smaller than expected

I do agree that Ikea stuff is quite hard wearing.

The Lidl stuff is just 33cm deep, that does seem very shallow!

Equivalent price £39 - MALM Drawers from Ikea are larger W:80 cm, D:48 cm, H:78 cm

Hi there.

I bought one of those long time ago, at Lidl Belgium. They are Ok for the price, but they are indeed very shallow.

One word of advice, though, if you buy one, make sure you NEVER EVER try to push anything downwards into one of the drawers even slightly. The runners will break and the drawer will fall onto the lower drawer. I'm not talking Hulk pushing, but even the "this puffy sweater can fit if I just squeeze it a bit" pushing.

Best of lucks

Are the drawer bases thin, then and how are the runners attached? Wondering if this is no different from Argos tat.

Ikea have well designed runners that are integral to reinforcing the drawer base.

The drawer bases are Ok, as long as I remember. The runners' attachments are also Ok. The problem is the runners' integrity.

They break by splitting in two parts (one attached to the drawer, one attached to the body), and they are the type of runner that are not supposed to do that. They contain an amount of small bearing balls that are supposed to be contained inside (and that will spill all over your room once you break a runner).

I've always thought Ikea was expensive??? Or has that changed over the past few years?

Yes, Ikea is very expensive, its like the Harrods of flat pack furniture.

We considered these and my wife then pointed out the size, it's pretty short for a 5 draw unit so I guess it's not very big generally. A good deal if you like the dimensions, but we're going with IKEA ones. The MALM range seem a fair comparison and are pretty good and a known quantity, wouldn't want to get these home to realise they're not much cop.

think I'll take a trip to IKEA

thanks

Good one to try, Ikea. Please report back.

I had this Lidl one (runners also disintegrated) and a Waitrose one (Chipboard cracked, and drawer bases continually pop out). Anything at this price, I will now assemble using +++glue and clamps.

Look absolutely rubbish and probably are. You might as well throw £40 in the bin
