Just saw this advertised this morning in the Metro newspaper.

Seems a good price to me.

Sauces include:
Tomato & Chilli
Tomato & Basil
Puttanesca
Thai Red Curry
Thai Green Curry

(and one other I can't remember!)

couple of spelling mistakes there...

sauce should be "sauuuuuuce"
like should be "loooooiiiiik"

This is an excellent find for great sauces. Heat added. Can highly recommend the smoky bacon if it is included in the offer.

For those without a lidl nearby- Tesco have these on offer for 1p more (sure this has been posted somewhere but can't find the post) until 19/05.

Lloyd Grossman makes a lovely pasta sauce! May take a trip to Lidl tonight and have pasta bake for dinner! Thanks

Have just checked the newspaper, and the other sauce was Tomato & Sweet Red Pepper.

These were also on offer in Asda at the weekend for £1

edit: well it might not have been the same flavours I can't remember

This is a good price, but personally I find these sauces rather below par.

Also 81p in Tesco not sure if posted b4.

So what is your product of choice?

I prefer Bertolli sauces myself....but 80p is an excellent price for these.

Bertolli if I go for ready-made. Never Ragu though - far too sweet.
Normally make my own up from pasata most of the time though.

Same here...I use Bertolli, then if I want to sweeten it up a bit, I add a little Ragu.

These are less than half price of Bertolli at Tesco though, and they're pretty good! Definitely wouldn't describe these as "below par".. I'll have to try some Bertolli at some point if you all say it's that good but I've not had any other pasta sauces this tasty for anywhere near this price.

I bought a load of these (12) when they were on offer in Morrisons about 2 weeks ago @ 84p each, so far we've only tried 2 or 3 but haven't been impressed, they all tasted very sour, maybe thats why they were cheap

This stuff is so watery I wouldn't call it a sauce personally. Don't like the taste either.

I like "Dolmio chunkey veg" or Bertolli.

Good price, evil sauces tho!

Its probably because your so used to lots of the other sauces and nearly all have hidden ingredients like added sugar, which doesn't need to be in there..

The Loydd Grossman ones probably don't have any sugar in them so are far better for you..

Me I make my own from a tin of chopped toms and my own herbs and olive oil..wipes the floor with all these factory made jobbies..:-D

i'm eating the bolognese one now, delicious! best sauces around

Surprised these are so unpopular! I'd never have called them "watery". I can understand if you're used to ragu/dolmio extra sugary sort of sauces this would be a bit different.

The green Thai curry sauce is fantastic!

All these sauces are 81p in Tesco just now.

I second that emotion.

I had this stuff the other day. If you like your bolognese to end up like an expensive cup-a-soup, then purchase away. I'm sticking with Ragu.

red thai is quite nice
always seem to have a nice big ring of water around my plate and not around the meat when make the tomato ones on pasta though

His curry sauces are FANTASTIC

Awesome sauces - I never buy them at Tesco because they are sold for a ridiculous price there. Well worth the 80p!

great sauces, were on half price offer in morrisons a couple of weeks ago so stocked up then

why bother you can make your own with a tin of tomatoes fresh garlic, onion and fresh herbs or spices for much less

I think these sauces are evil, and I don't use any premade sauces if I can help it, I gave these ago once on offer as they looked the best of a bad bunch, but they do have loads of hideous stuff in them and they are awful.
I make my sauces with fresh cherry tomatoes condensed down in olive oil, garlic, herbs, yum. Tinned tomatoes also have preservatives:thumbsup:
Oh I voted hot btw on price:-D

Bertolli are half price in Sainsburys, got some a few days ago for 80p or so. I like both, but Ragu is way too sweet so I avoid that one.

the tomato and chilli one is lovely! Oh and these are 83p in the co-op for those with no Lidl or Tesco nearby...

85p in tesco metro

About the same price as in Tesco on Sunday then, when I got a couple in for emergencies. There was a Thai Yellow Curry as well, what's that! Never seen that in a Thai restaurant...

Of course it is all a matter of personal taste but I think these sauces are DELICIOUS although I have to agree the likes of Tomato and Basil are more watered down than when they first appeared a few years ago - but even with this change they are very good quality with a very high chopped tomato content (which makes it different from the likes of Ragu and Dolmio).I have even been known to pay £2.19 for a jar at the local shop when I have run out so when I see them for 81p (Tesco at the moment) I am delighted. By the way his "Bolognese" sauce has more tomato puree/less chopped tomato in so it is different to the rest of his range. My fave is still Tomato and Basil and this seems to sell out first so I guess it is the most popular. The tesco jars have the new jar design (less colour) but the recipes are the same thank goodness. Please don't ever change 'em !

Have also tried a few of the Indian range and again really lovely sauces. Not keen on the Thai range but it's horses for courses and no doubt some love them too. I am sure I read that because of this range Loyd Grossman is by far the biggest "seller" out of all the celeb chefs. And he did it all without swearing. Good on him. I really miss the old Masterchef on the BBC on a Sunday afternoon. Now it's "Celebrity Masterchef Goes Large" and no sign of Loyd.
