Improve the quality of air in your home by removing pet hair, smoke and even house dust mites.

Works by improving air quality by reducing pollutants and allergy triggers that can cause asthma and allergy attacks. Helps to reduce dust, pollen, pet fur and tobacco smoke. Ideal for the lounge, kitchen and bedroom.

I went into the chemist today in Dartford, Kent and saw those that have been reduced to £3.50 which was a good deal anyway. But even better was that they were buy one get two free!

So basically, 3 of those for £3.50! Its a bargain!

lol yeh thats the one! was picking my inhaler as i have asthma and i saw this so i thought i might as well get some of them. the customer behind me saw this deal too and he got some for himself. i think its all finished now in this store. the pharmacist herself wanted one lol

I got these a few days ago in Wotton-under-Edge. There were only two on the display, but they had a bunch behind the counter.

Do these help make dust particals 'fall' out of the air ?

My house is very dusty and am looking for a way to help reduce it.

it releases negative 'ions' to the air which binds with the paricles of dust, tobacco, pollen etc, which therefore falls to the ground which can then be easily wiped off.

it also sucks in the air, filters it, and then releases fresh air.

i just got it today so lets see how it goes.

ahh i was up that way today as well , to far to come back but may be able to get my dad to pop in for me. did they have many left?

Jury's out on whether they do anything but at that price you can't go wrong (unless you drop one in the bath).

Will check out mine tomorrow too..thx

will need to check these out as i am allergric to everything maybe it will help lol

Seriously though - handle these with care! I reached down to switch it off and got 'zapped' as my hand went past the outlet grille part with a nasty static electricity type of shock...

removes pet hair ? who wants a bald pet ? i just open the window ,and as for dust mites , whos ever seen a dust mite ? i mean its claiming to do something that cant be confirmed , can it ?

most if not all asthma and allergy sufferers will make sure their home is clean and pollutant free as it possibly can be anyway .

while this is obviously not the best product to assist people especially asthma suffferers, you cant go wrong with the price of it and the whole deal i.e. buy one get two free.

What's the best thing to clean the black dust stain which forms on the wall around these?

I just use baby wipes.
If you are extremely sensitive, I think a cloth lightly dampened using water and vinegar is supposed to be best for dusting.
I knew a lady who cleaned for someone who was very sensitive to chemicals etc, and she told me about this method.
No harsh chemicals, plus I think the vinegar has some antiseptic qualities.

This black residue that builds up is what makes me think these things do work.
I have had one in my youngests bedroom for years ( an asthma sufferer) and there is always black marks around the machine when I am cleaning.

Hopefully I can locate some of these in my local Lloyds - I want to try them elsewhere in the house.

Be careful as it's possible with the cheaper units that they may emit harmful levels of ozone which will do your lungs far more harm than good.

The best 'cheap' air purifiers move air through a filter at high speed - I recommend anything with a high CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate) with or without an ioniser.

(from someone who has tried a lot of different air purifiers/filters over the years).

Still showing at £7 for 3 online. Still tempted.

Once bought does anything about them need replacing?

These might be cheap because for years now they have been associated with an increased risk of cancer

The article you refer to makes no mention of cancer.
It says :Ozone can damage the lungs, causing chest pain, coughing, shortness of breath and throat irritation. It can also worsen chronic respiratory diseases such as asthma and compromise the ability of the body to fight respiratory infections – even in healthy people.

It also says : Air purifiers target dust, pollen, airborne particles and volatile organic compounds, which are emitted by a wide range of products, including paint, cleaning supplies and pesticides. These pollutants are believed to aggravate respiratory and other health problems.

So you can either have an ozone risk or a risk of allergy/illness from various things & unknown pollutants.
Bearing in mind that in a normal sized & furnished room the ozone will disperse/react and disappear very quickly it isn't something that would keep me awake at night worrying.

Got the last 2 in Bamber Bridge.
