Kudos should also go to anewman who posted a similiar deal a few days ago.

I have literally just received word from a very senior internal Tesco source that a whole host of Blu-rays will be going on offer for £5 from tomorrow (Monday 7th March 2011).

I know some of you might want to hold fire before you vote and that's fine but I can honestly vouch that they have never been wrong yet!

The list of £5 Blu-rays will be:

28 days later,
alien vs predator,
assassination of Jesse James,
black hawk down,
borat,
broken arrow,
casino royale,
city of life and death,
da vinci code,
final destination 4,
Halloween 2,
Hancock,
hitman,
I robot,
independence day,
inglorious ****,
international,
invictus,
law abiding citizen,
little big soldier,
all three lord of the rings,
max payne,
predator,
nanny mcphee2,
raging bull,
rise of the lycans,
rocky,
Star trek,
terminator salvation,
the blind side,
the book of Eli,
the box,
the crazies,
the day after tomorrow,
the edge of darkness,
the fourth kind,
the girl with the dragon tatoo,
the hills have eyes,
the men who stare at goats,
the passion of the Christ,
the road,
the wolfman,
transformers 2,
usual suspects,
where the wild things are,
xmen wolverine

As I said I can completely vouch for the above information. Some stunning blu-rays for the price there!

Good luck everyone, i'm sure they'll fly out!

I have confirmed that the deal is genuine, I managed to get Star Trek & Inglorious ****.

They aren't labelled as being £5, but they certainly scan at £5. The staff instore had no knowledge of the promotion, but is definitely on.

I couldn't believe it either when they showed me the sheet - absolutely gobsmacked!

I didn't think they could beat their amazing Xmas deals on boxsets but this is definitely running it close!

very awesome if tomorrow I can pick up some of those titles for £5 each, will check it out.

anyone know if they will be at this price from when the stores open, just i would be popping in first thing before work?

It all depends on the Entertainment staff putting them out but I would imagine even if they haven't been stickered yet, they should still scan for the £5 fine.

Hope the store wont be cleared out by the time i finish work

Don't think its online - instore only by all accounts (I could be wrong but fairly sure I'm not).

Yes from tomorrow, Monday 7th March.

Hope this helps!!

Both my major tescos never seem to have anything, lay money staff get first dibs

Some of the films in that list are simply amazing. Have some heat.

such as? I quite fancy Book of Eli at this price.

some of the BR transfers of these are not good I've read; can anyone recommend some of the better one's here pls?? Black Hawk Down is definately worth getting!

so does it start in the morning e.g. 8 or 9am, or does the price change after midnight tonight? and does it scan at the till at that price?

I'd imagine from when the shop opens (but i'd say at least 9ish to be sure) and yes, should scan fine at till.

Star Trek for a fiver? I remember seeing this for £28 in HMV!

Some stunning deals here if it turns out to be true and I've just ear-marked £30 worth!

thanks simples- yeah will be giving that one a miss but thanks

Sunday trading. Shops aren't open 24h over Sunday/Monday.

Think 28 days later was shot on a handheld camera so blu-ray would be pointless?

So I'll definitely, definitely be heading to Tesco in the morning!
Thanks a lot for the heads up!

True, Canon XL1 (or XL2) I think. Presumably they've upscaled but yeah, bit pointless. Presumably audio is better.

Hmm... a fairly so so list of nonessential purchases.
Wouldn't mind Transformers 2 purely as a reference disc.

Law abiding citizen wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, so I've done some research and out of the titles above here are the ones that are rated to be of "good" standard and above in terms of picture quality:

Assassination of Jesse James
Black Hawk Down
Casino Royale
Final Destination 4
Halloween 2
Hancock
Hitman
I, Robot
Independence Day
Inglourious ****
International
Invictus
Law Abiding Citizen
Lord of the Rings Trilogy
Max Payne
Nanny Mcphee 2
Rise of the Lycans
Star Trek
Terminator Salvation
The Blind Side
The Book of Eli
The Box
The Crazies
The Day After Tomorrow
The Edge of Darkness
The Fourth Kind
The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo
The Men Who Stare at Goats
The Passion of the Christ
Transformers 2
Where the Wild Things Are
Xmen Wolverine

Bolded titles are considered to have excellent picture quality.

I'm making a list.
I'm checking it twice.

I given heat because it's a hot deal BUT personallyI wouldn't spend the money on petrol on going to my not very local Tesco just to get them, there's a few I would buy just because they are a fiver if I was there but nothing special, most are the one's that are the towards bottom of the price range anyway.

The 3 that stand out as being constantly out as being mostly at a higher price are Usual Suspects, Independence Day and the Girl With A Dragon Tattoo (I might be wrong on that one though)

Usual Suspects is the real bargain thought just considering the normal cost of it at about the £8 to £10 mark

I'll be off to Tesco tomorrow then! Probably won't have any blu-rays in (knowing my luck) but hey, definitely worth a try!

dont think I,ll be able to get to a store but have some heat from me

Won't amazon price match?

I don't know if they've done another transfer since I bought my 28 days later blu ray but the one I have is atrocious. Im pretty sure its worse than the dvd quality, tho I havent watched that copy in a while.

After watching the blu ray for about 15mins I seriously considered turning it off it was that bad. At one point when theyre driving past a field of different coloured flowers the flowers were just smears of colour with no detail, I'm pretty sure it wasn't like that on the dvd.

28 weeks later however is perfectly fine picture quality. Wanted 28 weeks later and got the 2 as a set for the same price as it was for 28 weeks later on its own at the time. Im glad I wasn't buying it for the 28 days later blu ray.
