This is decent stuff for £30. 46% ABV and non chill filtered.

Has a smoky orange marmalde note which is very pleasant.

You wait ages for a whisky deal then loads appear at once.

1st hand experiance - check

Verdict- good and have brought again
V decent...12 yr old..46%, non chill filtered and no caramel

heat
According to Ralfy the best Whiskys are typically non chill filtered, non coloured 46% ABV as thats where the balance of flavours to alcohol come through.

I did Islay for my 40th, luckily a storm cancelled all the ferries so we ended up having 3 days there instead of 2, managed to get to them all apart from Bowmore

If you go with a bigger group, this place is great, we stayed there with kids between 1 and 10yr old. It was 8 adults and 5 kids.

Realistically it would probably be 2 or 3 nights on Islay and then maybe somewhere else on the west coast for the rest of the holiday
Is there anyone else that can't take this whiskey seriously after first hearing of it in a Tintin book?

That's where I got mine. Along with another Springer 10. The 105 Is a spicy meatball. Definitely needs time to open up with a drop of water.

What's the Bowmore doing in with all the good ones?

It was cheap

I quite like it, but its far from the best Islay has to offer I agree. Being chill filtered, bottled at 40% and with E150 added isn’t ideal
Thanks for the heads up. Purchased this along with Eagle Rare 10, Bunnahabhain 12 (even though I've already got a full bottle of that) and Clynelish 14. The collection grows...
Arrived today, lovely and very easy to drink whisky.

Definitely not Ralfy's favourite though only 82/100...and considering that's for a ncf, non-E150 whisky, thats a less than average score.

While i like Ralfys stuff, even he will say it's just one mans opinion. He disliked Aberfeldy 12 (which i admit is coloured and chill filtered) but for £25 i found it pleasant enough and enjoyed it.

I held off buying it for ages cause of his review. He also really liked The Classic Laddie which i really did not enjoy.

I found Aberfeldy 12 to be very 'meh'. Even for £25, it was distinctly average.

Agreed. I enjoy his comments about the NWO, ‘trends’ he keeps noticing and using single malt instead of currency to pay for goods and services. Keeps me entertained.

It pretty much some up his whisky review scores too: I agree with some of it and don’t with others.

I buy a couple of glenfarclas 105 litres when I am in Luxembourg for 29.99 euro. At that price it's a shame not to. A very tasty sherriesd dram and as you say a drop of water opens it up.

Oh look here and cry at the prices wolter-wasserbillig.com
