Too much clutter on the TV stand, with the Sky box and the Wii, nice deal … Too much clutter on the TV stand, with the Sky box and the Wii, nice deal however.

You class that as too much, my wife would love you

Virgin box
Surround Reciever
Wii
Bluray player
DVD Player (recently moved)

Will be getting a foxsat PVR and a PS3 eventually to add to the list which will replace the PS2,VCR and a Freeview box (all went upstairs)

already imported a US PS3 for Region A discs (thinking US/Region A areas always have BDs out first & better editions or Uncut, and also would be cheaper), but lately in the UK there seems to be a huge BD sales drive going on, with Amazon & HMV all have cheap BD sales (now even much cheaper than importing from the US) and many of the sales BDs are Fox Region B coded discs, really hate Fox for locking nearly all their releases, so I'm tempted/needed to get a cheapo approx £100 Region B BD player, but this doesn't decode Dolby TrueHD or DTS HDMA does it? my AV receiver only accepts LPCM so I need the player to do the decoding.

2 pieces & you call it clutter?

PS3, xbox360, Wii, Sky+, Wireless video sender, DVD/HDD recorder, AV cinema receiver, DVD player, WDTV media player, and even the phat PS2, LOL, I'm trying hard to find a tv entertainment unit that can fit all that in, but at the same time still have good ventilation, really worry about over heating.

still want to get a Region B BD player & a Freesat HD PVR as well LOL.

Logik is an awful brand, beware!

A DVD player via scart looks dreadful on an HDTV. A DVD played via HDMI however, looks pretty decent, even when not upscaled :-)

its only profile 1.1 tho..

these are pretty unreliable (code 5 item), ugly and dont play avchd files (which should be part of the BD spec)

i'd personally pay slightly extra and get a branded one

Dead easy to link to DSG sites: pcworld.co.uk/pro…php?sku=836068 Change the last code.

If you were looking to buy a new vacuum cleaner would you buy a Logik? Maybe, but if it wasn't 100% one day you could put the vacuuming off for a couple of days. When I sit down to watch a Bluray disc I want to watch it and I want it to work.

Logik? I don't think so. Spend an extra few pounds and buy a brand that's going to be updated and where you know the manufacturer cares about their consumers.

I got one of these a few months ago.
Found that the picture, when it was a moving scene stuttered.
I returned it and upgraded to a Sony.
I said to myself the idea of getting Blu-ray is to get a superior picture on a 1080p tv so why buy the cheapest player?
My Logik player could have been faulty but didn't want an exchange.
The sony is far better.

Agreed - yes, it's cheap. But for a reason. And seen as branded players aren't that much more now, I'd go for a Sony or Samsung everytime.

anyone managed to find a good deal for a branded BD Profile 2.0 player with DTSHDMA & DolbyTrueHD onboard decoding?

Don't waste your money on this, buy a Sony or Panasonic. or if you have to buy something thats cheap then a samsung.

I'm hoping for a cheap player to come along that has a good build quality and plays BD and DVD discs from all regions.

I'm making do with my PS3 at the moment but the region lock is a big problem.

As far as clutter under my TV:
Sky+, Upscaling DVD player, Xbox with XBMC, Surround receiver, 360, PS3, Wii, PopcornHour and External 500gb DVD Drive.

really hoping some company like Datel can release something like "BluRay Region X" for the PS3 (like they used to do for PS2 DVD Region X) saves me all the hassle & money because of stupid Region lock! and no sign of it being software hacked, instead of physically chipping the hardware.

So are there any Blu-Ray players on the market that will let you play … So are there any Blu-Ray players on the market that will let you play multi region DVD's ?

Richer sounds has a panasonic BD player for £179 that plays DVDs multiregion out of the box.

richersounds.com/sho…DVD

That's DVD's though as BD takes a hardware hack from what i've read.

Most Panasonic , Pioneer and Sony BR players can be easily upgraded to MR for DVD using a hack via the likes of a One For All remote.

e.g. this thread [using a harmony remote] avforums.com/for…tml

I made my Sony BDP-S550 MR this way

Just bought this

currys.co.uk/mar…id=

fantastic machine and one of the new breed that puts these cheap offers in the shade
