More stations with DAB+ and more to come..... Also i listen to Union Jack a lot, which is only on +.
Great deal op! Just ordered
If this had a rechargeable battery I'd be on it like Trump on a porn star. If gearbest can sell a multifunction Bluetooth radio for 76p surely Currys could include one with this.

all DAB radios are more heavy use in terms of using batterys compared to analogue radios due to illuminated display, internal memory, etc all these extra features will drain the batterys quicker, you may want to look at this model instead if you plan on mainly using batterys for DAB;

At 24kbps its better to get the 320kbps online for acceptable listening.
For most people in the UK there is only Union Jack available on +.

It is/was the monopoly nature of Dab chipset supplies, them being very old and power heavy.
There is no reason why a modern Soc could not be ultra efficient.

I agree. I had a fairly substantial Roberts DAB+ radio that operated for 4 x rechargeable AA batteries for a month when the radio was being used for an hour a day. My other non-Roberts radios tended to eat through batteries far quicker.

ooh we have Union Jack on all the time and I didn't realise we had DAB+ I bought a similar digital radio to this today from Sainsburys for £14 (their own make) but would have preferred a clock radio for my old mum! Never mind, am tuning the Sainsburys one to her stations - boring ones
Thank you. Been looking a decent dab radio for kitchen as my current fm radio only gets one station. Heat added
Thanks bought for my daughters bedroom ,just painted blue so should fit in well

Two main differences:

- The use of the AAC codec instead of the older MP2 codec which allows a station to reduce its bitrate by 2-3x that of an equivalent MP2 station. There is also far less excuse for a station to drop to mono because the savings is only 2-3kbps for a station that uses parametric stereo (all UK services do with the odd exception on a small scale DAB multiplex if I am correct).
- Improved error correction by around 40% from my measurements. Whilst a DAB service is showing errors (so called 'bubbling mud'), the DAB+ service will remain stable. Using a pocket radio, I get far less errors and dropping out listening to a DAB+ service compared to a DAB one.

There should be no excuse for a manufacturer not implementing DAB+. I have seen radios below £10 which support DAB+.

Union Jack is now 32kbps. I wish the bitrates were higher - similar to that in mainland Europe but bitrates comparable to Internet streams is simply not going to happen (and 320kbps is a rare thing - if anything, high bitrate streams are rare online - 48kbps for AAC streams are the norm which would be equalivent to 56kbps for DAB+ (additional overheads are included for a DAB+ service)). The UK digital mark specification does not require radios to decode more than 188kbps at the error protection level used for the vast majority of DAB+ services in the UK.
Even rarer is me using any below 128kbps.

Many default to a low bitrate so you have to seek out the listenable stream.

One station that started 2 years ago in debris space. Its gone up to 32kbps, them finding a tiny bit more debris.
I don't see many, if any, stations moving to Dab+ and losing 90% or more of their current Dab audience.
