this is a good deal, unfortunately the hud peeps will just see 'remote control' and press cold. Very cool product which I'll be purchasing once I get an av receiver

I bought one of these last time they were on offer.

I must say it's one of the best things I've ever bought!

If you have a few devices under you TV (SKY, V+, DVD, Amplifier etc) this excellent remote will control them all and allow you to banish all the original remotes to the bottom drawer.

Plus, the brilliant way you can set up macros to perform actions such as 'watch dvd' means even the missis can work it.

HOT!

I'm a bit of a gadget freak, but I STILL can't see why you'd want to pay this much to simply banish the appliance remotes anywhere. Bearing in mind the sky remote works with the tv, as do many DVD remotes, quite why you need one for all I'm not sure - perhaps I'd understand if it was twenty quid or so. Luke warm from me I'm afraid, because I just think these are so so overpriced in the first place.

one of the bid advantages with this remote you can program it do what you want ,,, .ie. turn on tv, dvd, amp all set to the correct setting to watch a dvd... or maybe just sky and tv for daytime viewing all by pressing only one buttton.. horses for courses ..

I had a older one and it was great BUT the macro was a nightmare when other people did not use it, and caused it to go funny I went back and used it

Sorry - cold for me - logitech remotes are (as someone has said) fine until a device misses the command and the remote gets out of sequence or if someone doesn't use it right with the same effect. I found mine a pain in the a**e and went back to another big name in remotes which was much cheaper and simpler.

I also bought one of these last time around after already owning a Harmony 885. They are great when you have lots of different devices in the same room.
They are geared towards "activities" rather than just replacing your remote controls as you will still find yourself using the original remote for the more obscure functions.
Very nice remote though and a step forward on the 885 in look, feel and charging dock. It's only slightly let down by not having dedicated coloured buttons, although these do appear on the touch screen.

Voted Hot from me!

I absolutely see the benefits, and would probably love using one - but there's no way I could bring myself to part with £80-£120 for one. As I say, if they dropped to £20-£30 I'd be more than tempted!

The point being is these remote are activity based, rather than just a replacement for all your other remotes.

You set up an activity called "watch Sky" for example, and for me, it turns the tv on, puts it on the right input, turns the amp on, puts it on the correct input, turns my optical audio switcher on and puts it on the right input and finally turns the Sky+ box on...all with the press of ONE BUTTON.

I bought this yesterday, which will be replacing my 885, which is being retired to the bedroom

Oh, and if you only wanna pay about £30 for one, get the 525....they are around that price, but you'll soon wanna upgrade when you realise how good they are

I have the 525 and it does everything that I want it to, so I'm not sure what the advantages would be upgrading to this remote. I paid £36 for the 525 and now all I have to do is press one button to turn the tv on, change the input, turn the sky box on, turn the av receiver on and then select the correct input.

For one thing, i dont need to buy batteries with the 885 and the ONE.

I use high power 1000mAh rechargeable batteries in my remote so it's not a problem. Are there any other benefits?

Off the top of my head

Colour Screen
Motion Sensing back light
More "Soft" Keys
Rechargable docking station
Better build quality (my parents have the 525, and i really does feel awful, especially button presses)
Can control more device (12+)
The 8xx series can control devices with odd IR protocols

Each to their own i guess, but after using all 3, the 525, 885, and the ONE, i would never go back to a cheap one, but then again, i have 12+ remotes i have replaced. If i was just replacing a couple, i maybe would put up with the flaws of the 525

As has already been said these are great for turning on and setting the inputs, of more than one device @ a time. Another advantage I have just replaced my TV and as most TV’s have the same functions, I have reprogrammed my Harmony 895 so all the new TV controls are in the same place as my pervious TV buttons. No looking for the menu button it’s in the same place it always was, I would not be without my Harmony remote or Humax 9200 PVR:thumbsup:

How often do they have to be charged up?

You just drop it in it’s charging cradle when not in use, or at least try to charge it every night:thumbsup:

I can go about 2 weeks-ish, but as said above, i have the cradle on the coffee table, so, when i head to bed, i just put it in its cradle for safe keeping, which also charges it
