this is a decent Harmony remote control for those that don't want to fork out £100+ for the ultimate or elite version. I have one and it's still going strong after 4 years. £43 is a great price.

  • Interface: IR Wireless, Colour of product: Grey, Remote control proper use: DVD/Blu-ray, TV.
  • See just what you need, like icons for your favorite channels and the commands you need for the devices you're using. The smart display provides help when you need it.
  • Simplify your entertainment experience. Once it's set up, just select what you want to do and Harmony 650 does the rest. Battery type: AA
  • Replaces 8 remotes. Buttons are grouped by their functions, shaped to help you navigate, and backlit so you always know where you are.
  • Package contents: Remote control, USB cable, 2 AA batteries, User documentation

Say you have a Blu-ray player, PS4/XONE and many more devices. Instead of having 50 million remotes, you simply have one. The display allows you to change the device you want to control. It also allows you to set functions i.e Turn on the TV and your Sat/Cable box. Or it allows you to populate with channels and instantly go to that channel.

Hmmm! Wondering if i should get one of these to replace the 5 remotes sitting on my coffee table or just go for the Harmony Ultimate / hub for £99 and future proof myself. Decisions, decisions...

Stopped using mine because many of the regularly used buttons (e.g power on) weren't working. Even though it wasn't that heavily used.

Sent my one of these back because the battery bill was getting a little silly. Eats it's way through any battery far too quickly. I was changing them once a week and only had it synced up with 3 devices thst got used a few hours a night. I'd love for logitech to remake this remote with a built in rechargeable battery, as I've had them all and find this one to be the best design.

I'll say go for the ultimate with hub. I have one of these Harmony smart control and it's easily one of the best devices I've bought.

Hardly used mine and it died just out of warranty

No matter what I tried it wouldn't wake

I'd now never pay this type of money for one single remote control, no matter what it does

I bought my 650 remote off the for sale forums on here just under 5 years ago and it's still going strong. It's taken an absolute battering and works like new, it does go through batteries faster but thats expected, it has a screen! Cheapo wilko batteries last at least a month in my remote.
It also works well with the xbox one which is great.

Cheers for heads up and I get the need to cut down on loads of remotes but still don't see the point of them as mainly the Sky & Virgin remote works the tv. Dont think I've used the remote which came with the tv for years
My Sky remote works both my Sky and TV at same time.
My Virgin remote works both again.
Blu-ray player I might switch on now and again ish and its just press play on a remote job done.
Not sure how the remote would work my Xbox one and operate it as the controller does a cracking job.

All the Sky/Virgin kit auto switches between hdmi inputs so if I turn either off the TV (Freeview) kicks in and job done.

These remotes are minty bits of kit which many people might buy and I'm not knocking them in any way but am I missing something here because if I am i'll have one.

Main thing for me is for my amp, which the sky/virgin remote wouldn't control.

Same here, HDMI CEC should control everything but in practise it doesn’t, beauty of the Harmony hub versions of the remotes is the ability to have all your kit hidden away in a cupboard but the remote still works everything

Faulty or crap batteries. Mine lasts for months

It's definitely one of those things that once you have one you can't imagine ever living without - I couldn't go back to separate remotes for my TV, amp, Tivo, media center and Shield. It's not just replacing the remotes, it's the chaining of commands so for example the "watch tv" button turns the tv on (if it's off - the remote is state aware so it knows already), turns it to the right HDMI socket, turns the Tivo on, turns the amp on and selects the correct input on the amp, and all with one button press instead of scrabbling around for 3 different remotes.

My 650 has been going for years now, and it was a cheap subsidised replacement from Logitech when my previous Harmony died out of warranty (excellent customer service - not sure many other companies would do that). Batteries go ages without recharging too. I'll be trading up to an Elite on Friday asuming they hit £130 again.

Exactly. Harmony remotes are overkill if you have a simple AV setup consisting of a TV, a satellite/cable box and maybe a DVD/BD player. But if you have an AV receiver, a SCART/HDMI switch, various games consoles, and not to mention a handful of audio sources (e.g. turntable, CD, DAB radio), then they are virtually a necessity to make the system usable by all family members.

This is a really great remote, definitely worth this price, make sure you get the best duracell or use good rechargeables, FYI you can adjust the back light setting in the software and turn off the tilt switch so the screen doesn't keep coming on, it only comes on when you press a button that uses the screen, it's the screen that sucks up the batteries.

The new software for programming the remote sucks though, had to use the old software to get mine to switch inputs correctly when using activities.

Heat. Great remote

The best thing with these is you can program unused keys to do any function, you point the existng tv at the remote and it learns what the IR the existing remote is using.
I have and air con unit and I have taught the IR from the unit so it even turns that on and off.
Get it to turn the gas fire on, light switches) anything with IR, without even changing device on the remote.

This is one of the best gadgets I ever bought. I paid £35 from the logitech harmony outlet, amazing that a tech product has still held it's price so well

About 5 years ago I'll add

These surely aren't supported by logitech anymore?

I replaced this remote many yonks ago for a Touch one model, and only the other day the logitech software said they will stop supporting my model, which is considerably newer than the 650 model.

Assume their is a fault somehow but it must be a common one, as the main reason I went through the effort to get a refund on it months after buying it was because I found a lot of forum posts regarding the same thing. Love logitech tech its one of my favourites this has been the only item I've bought from them that has let me down.

They work wonders if-
One device does vision
Another sound
Another is the source

Useful as the tech behind these can be, just be prepared for the crappy rubber buttons to stop working after 18 months or so.

I've had 2 and they've both gone the same way. Prodding fruitlessly at certain buttons while all the others work.

That would be a first, I've never heard them drop support for any remote, especially considering how their system works. Programmed one of these the other day, with the new software and old software.

If you didn't use duracell best branded version then that's why, two ordinary AA batteries cant keep turning on a LCD screen every time its moved, duracell last ages.

In any case you can disable the tilt switch, which solves the problem.

Used as many different batteries as I could. And the best/most expensive ones I bought only gave me an extra two days or so. Only type I didn't try really were rechargeables because I don't own any. It barely got used. Literally only used it for main volume of my tv and to press play/pause and stop on my shield a few times a night.

I'd buy little hub and just use my phone to take control of the few devices I used it with but the cost is too high to justify my needs so unless they're reduced nicely on Friday I'm back to using a few remotes for a while. First World problems, I know.

Agreed on the buttons becoming unresponsive up after a while. I've had two of these same happened after a while. Now I regularly take the most recent one apart to clean the PCB and conductive pads. Like new again for a bit. Google will show you various permanent solutions to this premature end. Someone has made a screen with holes in it which you place a new conductive sheet over. It just seems to be a more subtle in-built obsolescence than we're used to.

I set mine up years ago on a PC and gone Mac now, different software and noticed there are two versions so maybe this is the explanation that support would be stopped. I had to use the old version of the software.

The strength for me is grabbing the features you use, putting them on a button and making your own label, ignoring or removing features you never use from the screen or put it on other pages. Stuff like adjusting the aspect ratio of the TV whilst driving the PVR or selecting an AV input that the device doesn't auto switch for example.

Good unit though, and this is a good price for it, assuming it is flexible enough for your needs.

Will these control an Amazon Firestick , which I think is Bluetooth. My setup is a Samsung Smart TV, Youview box, a Sony Surround system and a PS2 which I only use for the blueray feature. Been thinking of a remote that controls everything for some time, and this seems a good price.

Two main things, first the way they switch so suppose you are watching sky and you press "watch DVD"
it will change you TV/AMP HDMI to the correct input, turn on your DVD player and turn off sky. It could also do other things if you really went all out light dim the lights and stuff.
Also you can map any button to do anything

It's oil/sweat that works it's way through the rubber onto the conductive pads, it's annoys me they make them so difficult to get apart.

Not on it's own as it cant do bluetooth, you could get a harmony hub as a bridge.

That's odd. I put rechargeables in mine and they run out every 18 months or so.

How much better are these compared to the 350?
