Great deal for anyone who wants to used Alexa to control their TV / Sky / and all the other AV bits and pieces. Price usually hovers around the £80 mark.

A Harmony Hub is the only way to control Infra Red equipment using voice so worth snapping up at what appears to be the lowest price it's ever been.

The bigger brother is also on offer but i notice this is already "hot"

enjoy

Like new from warehouse at 59 so after 20% discount works out at 47.20.
Not a huge saving but might be worth it for a few peeps.
Apparently works well with Google home as well now.
Tempted myself, as home can't control most functions on shield TV, and this would be more multi function than buying a new shield controller.
Would this control my TV, Sky Box and Surround Sound to all turn on at the same time etc, without having to use 3 different remotes?

If so, could i set it up to do the above via an alexa command? Or would I have to use the app on a tablet/phone.

From how I understand it you would use the app to create the command (called an activity by Logitech), but after that you would have a simple voice command to do it.
Also can't decide if I should just sell the shield and get a 4k Chromecast instead. Less functionality but also less finicky to control

Shame they aren't just doing the remote cheap. My dog chewed his way through it last week.
Is it worth the extra £75 to get the version with the elite remote? I'm tempted by it but there seem to mixed reviews as to it's usability.

I don't really like it since it needs to be charged, isn't very intuitive for people that don't know a lot about tech sadly. You are much more likely to have your phone in your hand. So often it's another remote you need to get out especially for apple tv.
I’ve had this connected to amazon echo for the last year and hardly works anymore.you have to keep going to the alexa app disabling the skill and reactivating it other wise I get the i don’t have any video skills enabled on this device all the time.works well for the timer function and on the phone app but if your buying it for alexa I wouldn’t bother.

Shield + harmony hub + google home isn't going to make things less finicky for you. It's unreliable and needs more work before it can replace physical remotes.

I use a harmony elite+hub to control my shield. If you have the time and the patience to configure it correctly, it's very slick and reliable.

I have a harmony touch, just doesn't really get used as my wife just can't get her head around it.
Would having the hub as well make things any simpler?

I've ordered the Hub (Like New) for £47.20 (Thanks @willevans716533), along with the Fire 7 tablet for £30 which I will install the remote app onto and use as a remote. From people that I have spoken to and reviews I have read, the physical Logitech remote doesn't really get used a lot and sits on the side, hence stayed away from the £129 deal for the Elite.

The hub is essentially an oversized IR blaster with a few extra connectivity options. If your wife struggles with the Touch, then she'll struggle with all of the harmony remote+hub combinations.

It might be time to buy that chromecast....

You might be right, I'm not sure how much I would miss not having a shield anyway, don't use Kodi much nowadays and could always just install it on the Xbox.
Come to think of it I can't think of any good reason to have the shield without the voice control I was so keen on setting up
I have one in living room, and I have multiple dots...if I put this in the bedroom, I'm guessing I'll have to call the TV there something different...I know the dots can turn on the lights in the associated room, but I don't think you can group the harmony to a room, can you?

You cant assign the Harmony itself to a Group (or Room), but you can set up Activities within the Harmony which get detected as Scenes in the Alexa app. The Scenes can be assigned to a Group.

I have set up the Harmony in the living room and it has an Activity called TV. I have assigned this to the Living Room group as a scene along with the lamps, so when i say turn on the living room, it knows to turn on the lamps in the living room plus the tv (including the sky box and surround sound).

Hope that helps
Ordered the "Like New" condition but arrived with some scuffs on it. Called Amazon and they refunded me £15 as goodwill without any quibble. So worked out only £32.30!! Bargain!
