Don't bother is my advice, it's going on eBay tonight.
Very flimsy build quality and not that brilliant a product in my opinion. Better models might be different but I would advise to steer clear.
or they also have the 555 for £39.99 plus delivery. RRP is £69.99
misco.co.uk/app…272
i have the harmony one and build is excellent, guess it may only apply to more expensive models
I have owned the 555 for about the past 9 months (hasten to add at around this price, making this deal not that great, however currently its higher priced)
The 555 has the same build quality as the 525, besides the rather unpleasantly tactile feel to the plastic buttons, the rubber buttons are fine, and the buld quality of the rest of the unit is great, with a rubberised base.
I have found it FAR more than adequate in comparison to the cheaper Universal remotes, Logitech's customisation is second to none, yes you have to spend time programming the unit, but its a joy to use once you have.
Guess you will give someone a bargain buy on ebay!
£31.07 at amazon, albeit with a 4 week lead time.
Ordered a replacement. Also, don't forget 4% Quidco
Just a tip if you are buying either of these from Misco - I ordered at lunchtime today using their "lite" delivery, got e-mail confirmation immediately. Shortly afterwards I got an e-mail saying it had been shipped and just got an e-mail from City-Link advising delivery tomorrow, so 10/10 for speedy shipping.
Megamart.
Oh I so know what you mean!
Of course the Hotukdeals Logitech Remotes Fan Club will now hound you for ever more, it is like a religion that can stand no criticism :whistling:
Yeh I've ordered off misco before and only ever used the lite delivery., but my one hasn't been shipped yet and I too ordered at lunch
Care to contribute to the forum by offering a suitable alternative to a Logitech remote for £35 then
I have to agree, the build quality on my 555 is great, waaay better than the Philips Pronto's I owned which cost x4 the price! My 2 year old regularly locks horns with it and it survives unscathed (the battery compartment is sometimes located in odd places around the house, but that is to be expected!).
The programming is brilliant and the support people really good. I had an issue I couldn't work out and rather than talking me through it they made the changes to my setup on their servers and I simply downloaded it!
Awesome product, just wish the RED/GREEN/BLUE/YELLOW buttons were further up the handset!
It all adds up!
Another fan of the Logitech units, I am still waiting impatiently for nihcaj to come up with a suitable alternative for Logitech units that are of good quality....
Sure does, my quidco payments each month banked into paypal always end up giving me some little treat or other to buy on Ebay.
what time did you order?
Thanks Widdly
Had it for over a year, and it does exactly what you need it to do, change your av input, tv input, lets you control different aspects of different devices all at the same time.
As for build quality....yes it might be slim, but its certainly not feeble!
£31.07 at amazon for the 525, and £27 from amazon for the 515.
great quality,unlike the cheaper ones
I ordered the misco one yesterday and it arrived this morning, but I need 2 anyway. Just hope Amazon sort this out.

We would all be driving VW Beetles, living in wattle and daub houses and watching nothing but football.:whistling:
I am much happier driving my Bentley, living in my mansion and, because we have a choice of channels, using my Logitech Harmony One to change to a one that does not have football.
Come on folks, let's lighten up a bit and be a little more realistic here, if all Logitech or Philips or any other maker of remote made all of their products to the same quality and capability, there would be nothing for you to complain about and also they would all be the same price.:-D
Oh and I still haven't heard anyone suggest a remote, at this price point, to replace a 5 series Logitech???
The 555's build quality is much better than the 525 which is a bit creaky and lacks a'premium' feel. The 555 is the remote the 525 should have been, however I don't think it's £20 better, personally I won't pay more than 10 quid extra for it.
My 525 which I got for £36 at komplette.co.uk has been replaced twice under the 2 year warantee because the LCD display blanked out, but the last replacement has been going on for 18 months now without fault, so maybe there was an issue with early builds. The 555 which was a brand new ebay purchase for £44 (including postage) has been completely fault-free
The 525's blue backlight is clearer and easier on the eye than the 555's orange light, but the 555 has a more sturdy premium feel. In addition it has two extra macro buttons for sound and vision which I'll liken to the shift button on a keyboard, which basically allows you to map most of the buttons to completely different functions. A practical example (for those who have experience of using it) is that one could use the Sound macro button to re-map all buttons on the remote to control the surround sound system thereby eliminating the need to go to devices to make changes that are not currently configured on the activities screen.
The harmony needs to be setup properly to make the best of it, and once you do that it's really the best and most user-friendly AV controller I've ever used. No-one who's been to my house has failed to be impressed by it and 6 friends and family members have bought it, although admittedly, I've had to help them all set it up.
Anyone suggesting there are better controllers at this price range are simply wrong, yes you can find better costing a hundred quid more, but you won't compare a ford focus with a Ferrari, would you?

Looks miles better
hotukdeals had tipped me off to a lot of great deals on things I didn't really need, but still wanted. This is one of the very few that I wished I'd missed!
Sony 40V3000
Sony DAV-DZ260
Thomson Freeview Box
Optoma HD65 (if possible)
Got a budget of £50 - can anybody recommend anything better than this within budget?
Try again. Once it's setup properly all you have to do is press 'Activities' followed by what you want to do. i.e. Watch DVD, Watch Sky, Play CD etc...
It's as simple as that. I agree that the setup can be annoying at times, but keep at it.
looks better but! have looked at the reviews? not that great!;-)
The build quality is good too! A friend has the harmony one and this does exactly the same (just without a full colour screen) as that but about £80 cheaper!
Oh and it even has a motion sensor in it! It goes into sleep mode after 2 hours of inactivity then when the remote is moved slightly the screen comes back on.
I think you might be doing something wrong because this works on the basis of reducing button presses, but to be fair, this remote takes some effort to setup properly and won't be for some people. For example, of the few I've setup for friends, I've always had to adjust the response time for it to work properly, and if you don't have the patience and time to do this, lots of commands won't work properly.
On a single press on mine it switches the TV, AV amp and sky boxes on, selects the correct inputs on all and selects the movie surround sound mode. I have a single key sequence that selects sky sports and changes the surround sound mode to sports, so it certainly should reduce key presses.
Might do, but the harmony is far more flexible, has much much better battery life (the philips appears to last no more than a month) and user reviews on Amazon.com would suggest the harmony to be superior.

I didn't know we had to, but seeing as you mention it, a long bamboo cane, about 6 foot long would be better - about a quid at a garden centre. Much less maddening.
Actually am using a ten quid one from Lidl at the moment. Does more than the Logitech one did on my gear ie. it works it all! A bit slow to learn some functions, I have spent about 9 hours less work on it though, so it is still doing far better than the Logitech and it lights up better too!
I see the Logitech crowd is here in force... seeing as I don't see a single thing you are all posting, just the names, it nicely confirms that ignore is still working, and that you'd all come around for a convocation as I thought you would
Some time back I had one of it's predecessors, good, a little slow to fully teach all functions, but wore out after about 18 months.
