If you don't need Bluetooth or RF then the remote on its own is just fine.

Yes This price is the lowest its been but having said that the price for the remote with hub has also been low in the past weeks so it would be good to wait and see if it reduces again and if you don't require the hub and receivers then sell them.

If a phone had IR could it not do everything this can?

I have the hub and this remote best all in one remote ever own. Got it for around £65 when they did an amazon warehouse promotion lat year. Keep your eyes peeled

to an extent but the activity based logic of Harmony remotes is what makes them so good. I've used smartphones as remotes myself and they are OK to a point but nothing is worse than picking up phone, unlocking, finding the right button on screen just to change the volume...
On a harmony remote you have physical buttons for common controls like volume etc...add in the fact that they have a gyro senso that lights up the remote when you pick it up....
Once you've had a Harmony remote you never look back.....

'Smart' Phone makers be a little 'smart' and read this users comments he/ she has great insight on what we want with our phones! Sony did a good job with the Xperia ZL and it's remote control app...............

Cold, even with the hub it's still not great (I have one)

Shame they didn't stick with the styling of the old Harmony One remote, rather physical buttons than the touch screen, also hitting the wrong damn one!

Really? I have one and its brilliant. Controls all the device sin my Living room (TV, AV Receiver, PS4 (using TV controls over HDMI-CEC), Xbox, Roku, tivo and IR dimmers for my lights.
That simple to use when its setup properly even my kids can turn the TV/Amp on, set the correct inputs and then stream movies over Plex with just one button press to start an activity....

well we could argue all day about whether these are good or not. my experience is I bought one with transmitter and sent is back.it would not work reliably with a firetv panasonic tv and soundbar. fine on one device but trying to do multiple things and it would lose devices or only do part of the sequence.

the problems are the reason why amazon have so many warehouse ones available always. people try it and send it back.

IF it works I'm sure they are great. As amazon are good with returns nothing to lose apart from some time.

Got one of these with the hub. it was to replace my original Logitech one. it was fine but ergonomically it was poor compared to the original and a lot of the functions are now buried in the LCD menu. returned it

Trouble with the Old Harmony One (I had one of those as well) was the lack of the four colour buttons. At least this has those.
To be honest other than lacking number buttons I think they have the Ultimate One about right. it's not that often I need to use the LCD buttons, occasionally change the sound mode on the amp and sometimes choosing a channel from favourites. Mostly though the hard buttons are fine for my needs.

I won't be replacing my 650 with this until they prise it from my cold, dead hands.
I imagine picking this up the wrong way and it sending a load of commands would be most annoying.

The underneath of the remote is sculpted to fit in the hand, I'd say it's almost impossible to pick up and point the wrong way.....
I felt the same about my old Harmony one, and the 870 before it, and the 550 before that......I wouldn't go back to any of them form the Ultimate One
