normally a day or 2, depends on the company, though u wont get the money for maybe weeks or so.

Are these known to be temperamental? My first broke after 6 months, replacement has same issue - keeps resetting/rebooting. Shame as when it works they're great.

This remote is not for everyone. if you can set it up you will be very happy. mine stuck in a drawer for few years before I have found time to set it up correctly. finally I throw my old remotes to the drawer and using my Logitech

Tempted but I'm happy enough with my non screen i300 (I think)

Will probably regret it once they're out of stock, but I've never gotten quidco to work for me so that's probably what's stopping me from bothering with this.

Regardless of that though, voted hot.

Have this remote and it's absolutely brilliant..well worth it:)

I've got the 700 which I've loved using, problem is I've just upgraded my tv to a smart 3d Samsung 8 series....not sure if the harmony will handle all the features of the new original remote

If it's like the 700, then it's pretty much no-brainer (no offence)

mine is 785. problem I had was that it didn't work properly with old Thompson tv I mean double key presses etc and also the satellite receiver I was using at this time was not supported. Now the set up I have works brilliantly and finally am able to use it

I believe all 3 are supported as standard - if not, you can teach this remote any command manually (just takes a little longer)

I actually raised a case with Logitech today - in the last few months, mine has started rebooting all the time...hopefully they will replace soon, fingers crossed the next one works ok!

Does this remote sort out the "input lag" of the non touchscreen models? I find that with some equipment it is super slow to register keypresses and then continues to keep up after you've let go of the button.

I was on this like sonic was in cronic!! I'm sick to death of all these remotes!!!

Thanks

This remote will make you tear your hair out. Took me ages to program. Only the programmer knows how to work it. I wouldn't buy it if I had the choice again. It does work (eventually) if you invest yourself in it. I wouldn't say it is plug and play.

still trying to find a remote that does all that and has mouse control...

Not quite the same thing, but useful all the same (if your tv is hooked up to a pc).

unifiedremote.com/

Fantastic piece of kit and the whole family use it to control the TV, AV, Blu-ray and YouView without much trouble.
Be patient and careful with the set-up because it can be tricky but it becomes invaluable when you get it right.

Wasted my time getting to check out only to see £10 P&P.... Should be in title as it's very significant IMO. Cold for this reason sorry

These items tend to reboot when they need a battery change, so that would be my first suggested fix, with the colour screen the batteries don't last as long as you might expect.

The other issue I have occasionally seems to be if the remote is tucked down the arm of the sofa, it reverts to the initial activities screen, I have come to the conclusion that there must be some sort of confirmatory messages sent between the equipment that the activity is still active, if it can't communicate with the TV etc for a long time, it tends to revert to the start point.

I hope this is helpful.

Charlie - I found the same regarding batteries but my problem was occuring even with fresh ones. Sometimes I thought it was due to a loose connection (would reset when you pick it up) but other times you could give it a shake without rebooting. Regarding the 2 way communication thing I've not come across that and unsure as to how it could work.

chris2010 - mine has no lag, but does suffer from the repeat presses problem (only notice it with volume)

You can adjust the inter-key and inter-device delays which should fix any lag/keypress issues.

They are dead simple to set up with the software - avoid the online system. Any problems give them a call and they will sort it for you. There's a great help forum over at AVForums. I'd say it's an hour or so to get up and running then a couple of hours over the following weeks to tweak it to work exactly how you like.

would it work with amiko alien. remotes are crap on it

As in other replies to this question, I found this model much less stable than other Harmony models. One thing is that it eats batteries at an astonishing rate - and when the batteries are even remotely low you can't use the remote at all because it will just reboot itself when you hit the power on button. And my first one went back under warranty after a couple of months - the springing metal contacts in the battery slots weren't quite the right size so you I was getting poor contacts and reboots more or less whenever I picked up the remote, like someone else said above. Seems to be quite a common issue and was replaced quickly by Logitech. Even in the current one the batteries don't seem to seat firmly.

Shame because in terms of what it offers, it's great. Still using mine, but only just!
