Imagine if Logitech had someone in their design department who had realised this MUST have back lit keys. Such a glaring obvious oversight.

Imagine if you keyed in words: Logitech back lit keyboard, on Amazon and found K830 Logitech illuminated keyboard, such a glaring obvious oversight. Plus an oversight that back lit costs more money.

Good keyboard , touchpad works well too , ideal for a PC that is sat under the TV for some armchair gaming , not idea for the actual gaming , but good for starting games up and doing things in Windows.

OP. Any idea what the difference between the 400 & 400+ is? Just the colour/style?

Anyone know how well this works with a stream link? I recently read that these 2 in 1 devices only recognise 1 device at a time on the link. Although I probably don’t plan on playing games with it. Just general computer us.

Edit: the images on eBay are from the non plus model?

Will the keyboard be good for the android box?

I think the Link is based on Linux and therefore it seems very unlikely - our K400 certainly works on all our Linux devices.

Yes.

Works fine for me

Works on my Samsung tv so might do. Give it a try and send it back if not?

Adding backlighting to this keyboard would increase the cost, the size, the weight, the fuglyness, reduce battery life and make it totally useless for the purpose it has been designed for - which is to be a cheap, light, low profile solution for mobile and non-desk based keyboard and mouse input in one.

Imagine if it didn't cost 4 nearly times the price for one critical feature that doesn't cost 4 times the price to add. Only the very highest end wireless logitech models manage it unfortunately. Good try though.

Yes, it is great for an HTPC. Steam Controllers are superb for gaming, even with stuff like Football Manager where you are essentially just using a mouse.
Bought two of these a year ago for £7.50 each, what is happening on HUKD to me this is not a HOT?? Deal...
These are awful keyboards btw, the track pad buttons stick and react very poorly as well. Fine for very light use but nothing more.
Thanks OP ordered. This will be great for my sim rig!

Been using Amazon for 13 years, purchased a warehouse item and whoever returned it had pulled a switcheroo with their old, presumably faulty item, Amazon had not checked properly, they accused me of foul play despite 13 years of loyalty with only 2 or 3 returns... On the other hand I returned a faulty xbox one controller to Argos last week, took 2 minutes, helpful staff, no accusations of fraud. I barely shop on Amazon now unless they are significantly cheaper, they are riding their past reputation imo as the customer service nowadays is sketchy at best.

Agreed, mine has that problem, also the range is sub 2 meters (after buying a shapeable metal usb cable to raise the receiver clear of the case) Plugged into the back of my PC the range is probably 2/3 of a meter at best.
Can I connect it directly to TV and work on it

Yes, it works on my smart tv
I use one of these on my Compute stick on my downstairs TV, love the left hand edge mouse button enabling you to hold it on the edges and still use the mouse pointer

Well, there are a lot of backlit alternatives for the same or lower weight and price range as the K400+, so I think your argument is hyperbolic even before you say that backlighting would "make it totally useless for the purpose it has been designed for", which is quite literally the least convincing argument I've read all week.

What is the K400 for? To "enjoy total control of your PC to TV entertainment". Logitech's words, not mine.

What is one common feature of a home theater setup? If you guessed dimmed lights, you'd be correct!

So for some genuinely significant proportion of the demographic the product is aimed at, this product is totally useless without backlighting.

By contrast (pun intended) none of your arguments have this massive and negative effect. Reducing battery life is the most severe and close to accurate of your claims, but get this, with most backlit keyboards you can choose whether to use backlighting or not!
I have had this 5 months and works perfectly for Android box . The track pad is very accurate. Makes using an android box so much easier .
Got mine from currys when on sale for £19.99. Heat

I've had one of these for years, using it in the dark and never ever thought I wanted lighting on it. I type for hours during the day and never actually look at the keyboard, so don't need lights to see the keys when typing at night. that's why most keyboards don't light up, as it's not a requirement for everyone. there's marks on the home keys on keyboards so you can tell when your hands are in the right place for typing. not everyone will use a keyboard like this in the dark either. I happened to notice it's used a lot by webcam models, when I was researching the type of people who use these keyboards, and I looked at quite a number of different cam rooms and they were mostly very well lit, so no backlighting was needed. I spent several months researching this btw

So is your point that touch-typists working in the dark is a bigger portion demographic than people who just want backlighting? Or is it just that as an individual person you don't need backlighting, which was never really relevant to whether there is a significant portion of the demographic who won't buy a media keyboard without it?
I have the K400r AND the K830 and they are both good . The k830 does seem to be overpriced compared to the k400 but it is very similar in style to the k400, It is heavier , has back-lighting and I would say that the keyboard is actually better to use. I only bought the 830 as I got a good deal (50%) and I felt the backlighting and everlasting rechargeable battery were worth the extra. I find the distance to be easily 6 feet plus.

N.B. I now use the k400r as a cricket bat and play for the England Team.

no
Awful typing experience so be warned, if you are the type that might want to write emails on a smart TV or somesuch.
Works well with RPi0
Great and extremely useful piece of kit, especially for onsite engineers.

- Single "Logitech Unifying Receiver", stored in the battery compartment. (Can be cheaply replaced if lost, can have additional devices added to the dongle, whatever.)
- Touchpad won't win awards but is pretty reliable and sufficiently accurate. I have even played Overwatch with it and wasn't awful. (Definitely one for Sym and Winston though, not Widows.)
- Keyboard is the typical mush you have with non-mech keyboards, but it's perfectly usable.
- GREAT battery life.

Mine (K400r maybe?) has taken ABUSE over the two+ years I've had it, and it is still looking good and going fine.

My dad's got the same keyboard on his main system and it looks WRECKED. Only once has it been cleaned. It has had nail varnish spilled on it, coffee, all sorts. It is still going strong.

I even have a spare K400 Plus, still boxed on the shelf, because it's become an essential part of my kit. I'm sure one of these days my current one is finally going to die due to the heavy use and abuse. When that happens, it will be buried with honors.

Only minor irritation is the lack of a "Pause/Break" key on the r and the Plus. On the K400r, "fn + P" works, no clue as to the K400 Plus.

As most of the systems I've needed this for have been moved to Windows 10, Win + X has largely replaced the need for a "Pause/Break" anyway.
