Having never heard the creative's I can't really say. These are a little more powerful, but the sound quality is excellent with no noticeable distortion at full volume.
Logitech initially discontinued the X230, but brought them back due to popular demand.

The single downside, if you can call it that, is that they can be TOO bassy. There is a control on the back of the sub, but I always have it at it's lowest as it sounds perfect like that for me.

I hooked one set up to my TV and actually had to go into the EQ and turn the bass down a little.

better going for some quality gear than these ie Bose, Sony, Samsung

Your comment makes it sound like Logitech don't make quality kit?

To be honest, I've listened to 'quality' systems, and big name brands that sound as good as these are at least double the price and poor value for money (in fact I was VERY disappointed in some of Sony's offerings, just not as good as I expected, a £50 set didn't come close to these).
You'd need to hear these to understand why they are such good value.

Yes there are better speakers, but you'll have to dig a LOT deeper into your pockets to buy them.

EDIT:
Just look at the reviews on Amazon, 5 stars almost accross the board (I don't count the 4 star reviews, as they are just not happy with the heavy bass....EQ anyone?)

haha.. you call samsung quality in Audio.. !! samsung are quite rubbish for audio btw!! Really... ! Sony am not a big fan in audio either!! compare both of these to Mission or JBL or similars and you'll know what I am talkin about!!

Logitechs are better than the Sony and samsung you mention.. Bose..now they might take the logitechs down!!

at high volume they are cack:) also the people with the reviews on amazon, as long as the stuff works they give a good review, plus they probably havnt heard a good system

i am not sure what model is now in tescos half price about 15gbp on the tesco direct is ls21 for 15 but i am n ot sure what is instore direct.tesco.com/q/R…spx

Don't forget Quidco, every little bit helps.

The fact that you refer to Bose, Sony and Samsung as 'quality gear' is in itself laughable enough. Neither Sony nor Samsung are known for producing 'quality gear', at least not in audio. Bose are decent at best, but extremely overpriced and comparing a set of speakers that cost maybe 10x in price to this is just not cricket TBH.

These are not going to set the world alight, and at this price I wouldn't expect them to. They are however a very nice pair to have as a backup for maybe the kids PC or to use as the first step in upgrading your TV audio. The sub can be bassy, but the adjustment controls on the back allow you to neutralise most of that.

If anyone is serious about their audio kit then you need to look at the Acoustic Energy Aego M for PC 2.1 use, or go for the more specialised home theater setup go for some Kef speakers with suitable subwoofer and amp.

everyone to their own really because it depends on what kind of sound you prefer, if your a bass fan then these are the ones to go for and they don't sound good too loud so are only for personal listening...

also, being a music producer/engineer im used to my studio monitors which are flat and the first time i heard the x230 i could notice too much mid in the sound therefore i would go for these if your planning on using them on your pc so you can adjust the sound using a equaliser either on your sound card's control panel or on the media player you are using...

and to the people comparing these to the likes of bose..at the end of the day you get what you pay for but they are good for the price, you cant compare these to 2.1's like bose which cost £200+

I bought these two years ago from eBuyer fro £25 and they're excellent. really good sound for your money, they go really loud and yes they can go very bassy aswell. You can hear the bass boom all around the house with these!

Defo worth it for £20.

I somehow think you are missing the point of these speakers, for people that just want 2.1 audio for their PC/TV/Games Console with any built in amplifier they are a good deal, I have a set of Logitech Z4s rather than these that cost me £35 which I personally find are adequate for my day to day desktop daily use as I dont't particilarly want to hook up my desktop PC through my amp.

There again I have Mission speakers on my AV receiver and my Xbox 360 hooked up to that for 5.1...but you seem to be confusing the issue somewhat...trying to compare Hi-Fi Speakers such as JBL and Mission to these is ridiculous, considering my Mission speakers are £400 a pair, and then the varying costs of receivers to drive them.

So do you really know what you are talking about? Comparing brand names across differing markets seems somewhat disillusioned.

I am happy with my Logitech Z4s across the field of 2.1 speakers, compared to the competition they offer good sound and good value for money for general PC sound.

I am also happy with my Mission V61 Standmount speakers for home theatre/5.1 gaming use.

This is a hot deal, good bang for buck, personally prefer the refinement of the Z4s as these can be a little too bassy, but for £20 you are not going to find a better build or quality set of 2.1s

Have these on my PC. I love them. Really good for music in a medium sized room. Loud, beyond their size.

These X230's are far, far better than the LS21's, a LOT more power, 2 x 2 way satelites, much better bass. The LS21's would be fine for general use, but if you want a bit of oomph, you need something a little bigger. At less than £5 extra (taking the credit into consideration), the X230's a by far a better deal.

A 2 Phono to 3.5mm plug I would assume.

The speakers come with ]this adapter, IIRC.

If you do get that, then you can connect the red and white cable into one end, and then ]this for connecting the adapter to the speakers.

Not sure what adapter they means.. You get a phono to 3.5mm adapter with the speakers.

Say you're using a cable like this:
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/31if9zXriNL._SS500_.jpg.

Yellow goes into TV, red & white go into the adapter you get with the speakers which then plugs into the speakers themselves.

If you have a 360 or PS3 with HDMI then you'll need a different cable.

It's actually a set of phono plugs to 3.5mm socket adaptor. But essentially yes.

I use them with a lcd tv that has poor thin sound and they are pretty good for the price.

You can also twist the bases round and hang them on the wall.

looks like nice set, could someone take a picture of the back of the unit where the connections are... My brother has his 360 plugged into an old monitor using vga and needs some sound lol...

thanks

edit: the connections look like this

They don't take 20% off the price (it's not a discount), they give you a voucher/code for 20% of the price paid to use the next time you buy something. Not quite as good as a discount, but if, like a few of us, you are likely to shop there again it is worth it.

not sure if I could cope with just two but I have the 5.1 version of these and I think they're great for the money. Why does everyone expect the world for £25!

I getting stupid...Keep buying items worth 20quid....

I think I am collecting **** that I dont need..

I agree, seems like to many people are taking this out of perspective..... this is a £20 set of speakers and not £200 - I have heard them in action and thought wow, decent sound from a small price,

These are 32 watts rms, 3w is adequate for " normal" listening, suggest your hearing is impaired, get it checked out.

These are excellent speakers for the price, "Best Buy" in most computer magazine reviews.

Similar price at Comet with discount code and collect instore.

I paid £22.49

Bought these the other day from Comet for around £23 after seeing them on here, voted Hot from me - made a massive difference to my laptop sound.

Go buy

How do you get the £4.80 credit? Is it by email?

I have bought these speakers, but i have not been given any information on the credit.
