Great system
Always a winner this, heat
Can it be used as a 3.1 or 2.1?
Too old and lacks too many features.

Not as good as my 10 year old Logitech Z5500 system, but a damn good price, though!
Best system ever. Bought couple of months ago on offer for £150.

Like Bluetooth? That's easily fixed. What else? Just curious

HDMI and any modern audio format.

Surprised they haven't refreshed their higher end kits.

A receiver type thing sounds expensive. Having HD codec support would be lovely. At this price I think I can live with it. There's was/is a £199 Yamaha 5.1 setup knocking around, HDMI but no HD codecs.

Ok to plug into an old hi fi separate system?
Very good system! but im not an audio geek.

I have them in my front room.

Having 2 of these speakers with an old hifi sounds very underwhelming
Can't believe I missed it by 2 seconds whilst I changed payment method 😁😁😁😁

Maybe at £200+ but this price is a bargain. Also though it works well as a home theatre speaker set I think it is primarily marketed as more of a (very) high end PC speaker set up where newer formats and HDMI connections are irrelevant as primary way of connecting is still 3 x analogue 3.5mm cables (ergo the PC does any decoding so what the receiver supports is less important).

That said I used mine for a while as a home theatre set and they worked well and sounded great. Though superseded, the (basic) Dolby Digital and DTS this supports still sound great to me and one benefit is as older formats they are incredibly common now so almost everything from DVD and newer will support it....

Although my separates are almost 30 years old (Nakamichi) I was really after something that I could use with TV and my hi fi separates.
Would you advise against it?

Just use this, connect to the TV with optical.

2.1, 4.1 and 5.1 I just bought these second-hand for £150. No regrets. They are incredible.

Thanks I was looking at getting a 2.1 but might get these for future use. My home office is too small for 5.1
Oh, it's back up on offer again

Yeah, but hi fi too?
Ok do you think?

No hi fi to the speaker system listed on here.
Surely it does more than just TV?
Or are you just trolling?😁

I'm just trying to figure out what you're trying to do. This doesn't have outputs only inputs.

Its still on...
Looks great for PC but not the best solution for TV even in this price range. For TV you're much better off getting a receiver that takes HDMI in and supports ARC.
Hmmm... I'm so tempted at this price for a medium sized bedroom with a gaming pc and nvidia shield tv. Video streaming and pc games would be the order of the day here.
Shall I pull the trigger or opt for a 5.1 soundbar which I don't mind paying extra for?

Why one and not the other?
Easy 5.1 for cheap if you have a PS4 or Xbox One. Most TV's have an optical output that will forward Dolby Digital/DTS to this. Ignore the moaners about it not having HDMI for LPCM, nothing at this price would. Yeah it's not quite as good as my 14 year old Z5500s, but it's £127 for a DD/DTS decoder with decent speakers, not much room for complaint there.

You won't get 5.1 from a Switch or Wii U as they only do 5.1 over LPCM/HDMI, but still. PS4/XB1 or PC via 3.5mm x3 will give you proper 5.1

Agreed
Got this for a similar price and bought a PS3 for all media to go through

Is there any trick to connect this to google home device or google chrome ? Any adapter or something? Or play music wirelessly?

At this price cannot be beaten for a 5.1 pc speaker system.
Have these connected via optical to my X-Fi titanium sound card.
Awsome!

Chromcast music, although you'd need to power it (USB)
