No, just standard DD 5.1 and DTS, still no reason you can't use it, most sources still carry these formats.
I have it hooked up to my uhd TV through optical. Sky and uhd 4k player both connected to TV with hdmi.

Can connect to any TV via optical or 3.5mm connection, though will be limited to stereo (can create a fake 5.1 sound from stereo feed though) on 3.5mm. On optical it depends on the TV, most will only output stereo over that too.

Best bet is connect it directly to the devices you use most with your TV e.g. you Bluray Player, set top box or games system then you will get full 5.1 for sure provided you use the optical connection....
Received my set yesterday, using it with my tv/ps4(optical on both)
38283644-tUl27.jpg... Not the best looking speakers but for the price these are brilliant.
Almost time to bite ... if this offer is still active on payday (5 days to go), imma go for it! :-D
Got these last time at this price, great value, using them on my pc, great for gaming.

If you've got optical out which they do, then yes.
Will these fill an average room with decent 5.1 sound?
This or the JBL soundbar?

With ease! They have 500 watts rms between the speakers and sub. Power is not a problem with these, probably the most powerful home cinema in a box style solution out there....

Do you mean the bar 2.1 as here: hotukdeals.com/dea…307

If so this will absolutely blow that away. JBL do make some good sound bars but the "bar" range is right at the budget end and won't be in anyway comparable to this
I'm tempted as my 7.1 Sony system sounds like it's farting now - 50% of the speaker cones decided to spontaneously separate from the bezel and they sound like they are farting at certain frequencies. Weird that 50% failed in the same way at the same time - they weren't over driven or anything (I can't go past 30 as the windows start to vibrate!)...

Heat added btw...

Oh yes

For the money now Vs RRP these are hard to beat despite connectivity.

Are the lights as annoying as everyone says?

Student discount only?

No comparison tbh, I replaced my 2.1 Panasonic soundbar(I think it was a £80 set, so nothing special) and even YouTube on 3d mode is waaayyyy better.

Any chance to get it with usual Amazon prime account for that price?

These are LOUD, I'm impressed how good this set is (compared to anything at this price point). Dont get me wrong, it's not a hi-end setup, but atm I'm not ever bothered about saving up for something better (surely, it's only a matter of time).

Thank OP, been keeping an eye on these for a while.

I haven't read any reviews (I e had this since 01/14 and the lights on the unit are orange led, they flash at the volume knob when muted and the speaker diagram lights up when signal comes through or the settings change but that's it.
Too many wires for me, but good price, good brand, so hot from me.
I just thought I'd share (I like sharing). I managed to find some 50W Panasonics as a temporary measure and tested the lot (including my active Sony SA-WMS215 Subwoofer) with what better track than:youtube.com/wat…-jI
As when I enjoy good music my neighbours do too!
Great system, i mounted the front speakers to my tv stand and hid the sub wiring on some conduit...to give others some ideas

You think that's bad? Try wiring for 7.1 with a network cable too! If you think that's a lot my old Denon with the projector was wired for 15.1, 13.1 active Dolby Atmos, I still have the projectors, but I sold the Denon, really 5.1 is all you need!

That's why I am looking at Damson or Vizio, can't stand one wire, nevermind the 57 you had with your system:). This one is not worse than other systems, not too many wires, I just can't stand them.

Just put it all in the walls. Speaker cable, subwoofer cable, Ethernet etc

Not massively clued up on speakers but would these be suitable for connecting to an Optoma Projector? also are the cables long enough to mount at screen(about 8 foot from projector)?
Any way to get the 10% discount without being a student?
Surely Much more powerful than buying a soundbar at this price.

I have been very keen on one of the all in one samsung soundbars recently to mount under my TV

I currently have a 5.1 system plugged in
Old school logitech z680 I think
Great sound, powerful subwoofer but the power button is faulty and the optical connector on the back has been abused.

Biggest problem with the current setup is the wires are everywhere and it is not always easy to conceal wires when your place is fully done up. It just looks messy that’s why Soundbars are better for me.
this is a fabulous speaker system: got it for garden office / cinema room and works damn well! love it and highly recommend quality of audio is amazing especially on games too!
How do these compare to the old Z-5500s?
BenRC17/08/2019 18:45

Are the lights as annoying as everyone says?

No. They only are lit for a few seconds after you've tweaked a volume level. Constant lights are power, the input indicator and the solitary dot showing the current volume level.

How do these compare to the old Z-5500s?

Not quite the same punch but then the z5500s were prone to overheating when used for prolonged periods at full volume. The connectivity is also better with the z906 and the control module doesn’t have a matrix screen that failed in my z5500s. This is a great system at the price and Logitech supplied me these as a replacement for the z5500s which was good customer service. These rock at this price especially considering they are active.
Sorry if this has been clarified but I've read the comments and not seen such..

How would this system integrate into a living room TV system? All it'll be connected to is the TV, NVIDIA shield and the PlayStation.

I've read over auxiliary I'll only get stereo. How should this be wired up to get the full benefits of it being 5.1? Am I being naive thinking this will give a cinematic feel much better than my current soundbar (Sony HT-NT5) which is only 2.1?

Most definitely, I watch everything through my Optoma projector with this sound system hooked up, awesome sound, you won't regret it.
Cables were a little short for me but I just extended with speaker wire from a pound shop, no brainer.
