London 2012 : 50p sports collection - HALF PRICE

Last Chance - The Royal Mint has struck the 29 coins to uncirculated quality and presented in colourful packs. All 29 coins come with the Completer Medallion and a specially designed album to protect the coins for posterity - an exciting and highly affordable souvenir of this historic event.

The set you see here has been struck by our craftsmen at The Royal Mint in cupro-nickel to a higher standard than the coins in your pocket. It comes in a Collector Album which is specially designed to protect the coins for future generations as well as giving fascinating facts and figures about the Games. Don’t miss your chance to acquire the full set and own one of the most affordable, long-lasting and tasteful keepsakes of the London 2012 Games.

The Royal Mint held an open competition to design the reverse of each of the 29 50p coins, representing the 29 sports of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Over 30,000 entries were received from members of the public. As a result, this is perhaps the most vibrant, creative and passionate collection The Royal Mint has ever issued.

The winning designs were chosen by The Royal Mint Advisory Committee and officially approved by Her Majesty The Queen. The obverse of all 29 coins features the familiar, graceful portrait of the Queen by Ian Rank-Broadley FRBS which has appeared on all legal tender UK coinage since 1998.

Use promotional code OLAFPP for free P&P.

In specially designed folder the set will appreciate in value more than buying the single items.

Free P&P code worked for me - so £24 delivered.

Just ordered and 8% topcashback too. Many thanks

Excellent price. Ordered a set.

You can get all the coins from the same site for £17.49 if you don't want the album.

£18.48 since the basketball one is 1.49 - so a 5.52 premium for the collector set....actually i wish i got this instead now....
So this is decent deal.

I just got free delivery with W13CD also....it seems to show the cost again in one of the steps during checkout - but is still zero at the bottom.

I'm trying to order the ones that I need, but I can't get free delivery with either code - can anyone help.

Thanks wanted one of these as a keepsake of the brilliant event but out of my price range at full price for something I don't really need but just want! Free code worked too. Cheers :-)

Finally managed to do it, had to order more than I needed but I can just spend them anyway. That's over an hour of my life I'll never see again - I hope the kids are grateful

RE Cashback: Please note, the Royal Mint is legally unable to provide cashback on coins who’s selling price is the same as it’s denomination, e.g. £5 coin sold for £5 or 50p coin sold for 50p.

My order went through ok with free postage - a bonus. A good keepsake. Thanks OP.

Heat from me OP

I got the albums free from the royal mint when it was posted on here just after the Olympics. My sister in law who works in a betting shop got the coins for my two kids, but we never managed to get them all, they were both about five coins short.

Including duplicates I've got about £35.00 worth of 50ps, so for £13 both my kids get a complete album. I would have cost me far more than that to swap them if you factor in P&P, add in the time it would have taken, and this is a bargain at £48.00.

Thanks so muck OP.

I received cashback on all my 50p orders separately lol. It worked for me, I mean I have the quidco confromation atleast.

Any chance of The Royal Mint offering this HALF PRICE

Gold Kilo Coin

Have ordered, this is a fab deal! Thanks! X

Just checked, even at half price, it's not worth it's weight in gold.oO

Tempted but not convinced they'll appreciate much in value..

Is it not 600% price?

so £24 for £14.50 worth of 50p coins. how is this hot? doubt it will appreciate in price much if everyone goes or this deal.

Hi, thanks just filled my book up but feels like i have cheated. code worked

The album is far nicer than the free one I got.

Doesn't matter about the appreciation, it will be appreciated by my children.

But when all the coins are 50p on the site, and the entire collection can be had for £14.50, why would you pay £24? Is his point

I wondered that too. Madness. Surely if you want to collect these the fun is in actually collecting them (I enjoyed getting the US state quarters in change while out there, never got them all), not buying a complete collection for almost twice their face value? A hot deal? I highly doubt they will appreciate in value in the centuries to come! They are not rare. Most "GB 2012" merchandise/tat was selling for pennies as soon as the event ended!

"The set you see here has been struck by our craftsmen at The Royal Mint in cupro-nickel to a higher standard than the coins in your pocket. " Gold, where?

Do these types of sets ever really become valuable? Are they an investment or something that's just nice to have as a momento of a special event.
The sets don't appear to be numbered so they've probably produced millions of them.

I agree with the fun in collecting these. The kids and I managed to complete almost two full collections of the US state quarters over 3 trips to the states and had a ball getting them. The excitement of finding a 'rare' one was comparable to winning the lottery. However these coins are uncirculated, in a presentation folder with an additional completion coin and are a good ( and now pretty cheap) souvenir of a successful Olympic Games. Just like the state quarters, it is unlikely this will increase in value, but that isn't the point of it for most people.

Isn't this 28 x 50p (£14) + 1 x 1.49 (1.49) + 1 x 2.99 (2.99) so cost of coins is £18.48....or am I being thick in not realising why everyone keeps stating 14.50!? Haha

Stupid site - states my login email does not exist (so won't send password reminder and suggests I register) but if I try and register it states my email is already registered and to log in??? A few quid saved then I suppose, heat added as good deal.

Tat.

I've been collecting these since they came out, only 7 left to go :P

You're correct... it is not 600% price.

I actually have connections with the company that made this website. Believe it or not, the royal mint contracted the company for 1 MILLION just to create this website! Crazy stuff.

Ask a collector how valuable the album is then decide if it is worth the extra few pounds. The overwheliming answer you will get is YES.

Didn't give me free P&P on either of the codes tried:(
Still ordered one though.
