Found 24th Apr 2012
Just looked on the days out guide website and saw this 2 for 1 offer on the London Eye after a long time. Since EDF have taken over I have rarely seen this offer, well not as much as it used to be! You have to show your national rail train tickets to claim this offer.

London Eye 4D Experience
Included with every ticket is entry to the London Eye 4D Experience, an inspiring journey of discovery that brings London to life through unique perspectives and multi-sensory special effects, including wind, bubbles and smell - the perfect preparation for the ensuing sense-heightening tour on the London Eye.

Opening Times: Daily from 10.00 Closing times vary, check londoneye.com

So this can only be used with train tickets, travelling into London?

Seems theres loads of other destinations too If the London eye doesn't take yer fancy

I hate the London Eye, the queuing systems is stupid. On the day we went it was not too busy and so the queue started halfway through the ranks. We just joined the end is the queue and waited. Then finally we got to the front and some fascist sod sent us right to the back of the queue as apparently you needed a stamp to prove you went through the start of the queue. Tourists must think we are a right bunch of jobs-worth uptight gits.

This offer along with similar offers for all tourist attractions has always been there. Nothing new here. I have used it about 5 times in last 3 years with my visitors to London

Good question....you are totally at the mercy of the guy/girl at the counter. I have noticed that they seem to like long distance train tickets. I was once refused this offer at Madam Tussauds because the train ticket was from New Malden to London! Another catch is that you have to use the train ticket the same day on which you have travelled to London. Insist to get your train tickets (the used ones) back in case you plan to use the offer at more than one attraction.

Train ticket needs to "national rail" with the opd british rail style symbol on it and not a "transport for london" ticket. Ie must start at station outside TfL region.

I bought the paper day travelcards and the 2 for 1 offers worked for me, used them on London Eye, London Dungeons, and Tower of London. Here are some links you may find useful;

Can you explain this in a bit more detail please, do you mean that you didn't have a national rail ticket, just a 'normal' one day travelcard and that enabled you to get the 2 for 1?

At which station/outlet did you purchase the travelcad, and for what zones was it valid?

TIA

do i need to print and bring a voucher along or will showing the ticket/travelcard when buying a ticket enough for them to give the 2 for 1 promo?

Yes it was the normal one day travelcard, I bought the travel day cards zones 1-4 from the TFL website red card (link in my first post) as i was going to be staying in a travelodge near kew gardens. They sent me the cards through the post. If you go to the TFL website there is a zones map showing what areas are covered so you can then decide which zone card you need. Hope this helps. If you need any further information just let me know.

any other offers, this seems to have expired.
