Only mugs get mugged.
Going in Sept to see family with Luft for about £850 for missus and I with seats sorted for long haul which we paid £28 pp each leg.

If going premium with Norwegian (never flown with them), do you have to pay for the seats or is it included as @ £429 that's a very good price for prem. And does that include meals and baggage?
Rio = The street robbery capital of the world
Make sure you book with credit card and refundable hotels

Why credit card?

This airline is not in the best financial shape. If it goes bankrupt, buying with credit card is the easier way to get your money back.
So many places to go to. Heat added
Got a similar deal through Norwegian and just got back from Rio on Tuesday, reccomend it to everyone. Such a good trip
just make sure your accomodation is refundable as this airline is not in the best financial shape

Things are worse for them right now especially after the Max grounding.

This will be well into the TLDR territory but;

I’m with you on this one, I’m no mug and went with my eyes open. Had contingencies and dummy wallets etc. Still didn’t stop some desperado attempting to rob my wife and I at knife point, despite being in our swimwear and obviously not carrying any valuables, on Copacabana promenade, half a block from our hotel, in broad daylight. It ended ok but still a very difficult situation. I did speak to the local ‘Tourist Police’ who were very clear they didn’t speak English and were aggressively uninterested. Saint-Tropez surrounded by Mogadishu is the best description I heard, and that suited our experience. The beach is territorial and it’s worth knowing who’s turf you’re crossing. A step or two away from the beach and the locals can be extremely hostile to tourists if you don’t hand over cash. On the return leg after exploring wider Rio State (which was awesome - and felt safer?) a police operation saw gunfire up the street, towards a favela (one block from hotel). All observed from our rooftop pool/bar area. The receptionist said they were taking a favela back and installing a police post. She said usually a mob will then descend after such an operation, robbing everyone in sight, including locals and tourists, at hotels and shopping centres to recoup their losses. When I asked what her advice was she said ‘I’d go home now, as soon as you can’ and promptly called for an early airport transfer. Ultimately a beautiful place that trades off its beauty, landmarks and exotica but is so cripplingly corrupt there is literally no (apparent) meaningful investment in your safety or their social issues, they will happily take your tourist dollars though!

Yes, its the full monty. 2 x 20kg (not 23) bags, all meals and drinks, seat choice..... and WiFi...... Plus the pitch is much much bigger than BA

On that note though, it seems Norwegian have just put their prices up. Last week their Premium flights to MIA / FLL / MCO were all £499 - now its showing as £599. That said, its still worth paying the extra.

I was born in Brazil, lived for 32 years there and never visited Rio de Janeiro. Brazil has great weather, food and the nature is amazing, unfortunately the security is a major concern(specially in Rio de Janeiro).

basically the same as any other 787 flight, only difference being was the fact you have to buy your own food (brought 3 pret rolls onboard) and the movie selection was a bit average (had my ipad anyway) . The staff were amazing also!!!
