8 Jan - 28 Feb 2014. Travel between these dates from London Heathrow to LA with Air New Zealand and only pay £481 for return ticket. Which i think is pretty good. I have never been to LA before. Seriously considering booking one.

You won't get much cheaper for a direct flight on any airline during school holidays.

Flew with Air New Zealand last year and they were great. No comparison with BA, and its awful service. The Skycouch option was brill. If you can get a cheaper deal it's a no brainer between the two airlines.

They are good prices, I paid this much to fly back from LA in January, that was one way, on Air New Zealand.

One of the best airlines there is. Worth an the extra for an upgrade to Premium Economy if you can afford it.

thanks op

we booked LA for end april for 16 days, flights were £508.
This was a stop in amsterdam, we could have gone direct from london, but its easier to taxi to a local airport and fly to amsterdam than pay to get to london!

Cant wait to go!

You may need to break that down and take a close look at the cost's vs. an overnight stay at Gatwick\Heathrow. I parked my car at Gatwick for 2 weeks last month with an overnight stay and all it cost me was £65 + a tank of Fuel say £60. I cannot imagine flying to Amsterdam with luggage and transfers is much cheaper or easier?

I flew with Air New Zealand to Los Angeles about 3 years ago for £330 per person going on the 22nd Aug and returning on the 3rd Sept. every year I look for the same kind of deal but it has never been anywhere near that cheap since flight was fantastic can thoroughly recommend them.

The Independent had run out of news so did a DailyMail it seems.

Head Journalist : Look ED we've run out of news, there isn't any more, what the hell can we do?
ED: Ok this isn't as bad as it seems, what would the DailyMail do?
Head Journalist: Hmm they'd look for some reactionary story to wind up people in to a frenzy
ED: Exactly!
Head Journalist: I got something! We're in business!
ED: Lay off the ! they cost us extra < oh damn

I flew in Feb when flights were £450 return. Best flying experience i've ever had. No other airline compares in any of the classes.

In a statement quoted by the New Zealand Herald, Air New Zealand said: "During the cruise phase of the flight one of the two operating pilots nodded off twice for around a minute and woke spontaneously."

"The other operating pilot on the flight deck was aware of this and safety was not compromised at any point."

Not really an issue - the plane was effectively on autopilot and during the cruise phase and the co-pilot was also fully aware....

Pilot falling asleep while autopilot is on and another pilot is at his station, not really an issue. A bus driver falling asleep at any point, that's an issue.

Moral of the story, never get on a bus.

car parking: £90. overnight stay. 40ish? fuel 65min. plus more travelling,

it worked out quicker to get dropped of at manchester (40mins away) then go to amsterdam and wait there for an hour

The nice thing about flying to LA with Air New Zealand is that most of the other passengers are re-boarding to fly on to New Zealand so there is little queuing at customs. Maybe more people fly with them just to LA now but when I flew with them about 6-7 years ago it was literally just myself, wife and son going through customs. So much less hassle when travelling with a small child!

What's the cheapest would I get in July aug do airlines give special offers in those pick times

£576 now!
