London Pride, great free day out, great atmosphere, official parade with over 500 floats and entertainment all day Sat 7 July

Next weekend is the annual London Pride main day, Saturday has the parade through most of Central London which tends to last 4-6 hours (!) always runs very late. Literally takes 2 hours or more for it to pass any one spot I think last year it was 4 hours!

There is a big main stage in trafalgar Square with acts all day including Sophie ellis bextor. Three other squares in Soho have major stages/family areas /drag etc etc.

Also my top tip is just hang around charing cross etc areas, lots of people do impromptu singing, dancing, instrument playing, drinking in the streets. All roads are closed to traffic and people reclaim streets. It's a really good inclusive atmosphere and very suitable for people on their own too.

Worth pointing out that you don't have to be LGBT. I went along to one of these many years ago to see Chumbawamba perform and it was a great day. Free live music, brilliant atmosphere and it looks like the weather will be great too. I wasn't made to feel uncomfortable at all. But why should I? Thanks OP!

Its not just a free day out. It's a celebration of lesbian and gay people and their rights. So if you're going do remember that.
No thanks.
For anyone voting cold, I'd like to ask that they take a moment to imagine what it feels like to be discriminated not just for your sexual orientation, but for your race, religion, colour, etc. etc. Millions of people live in countries where discrimination on these grounds, and particularly sexuality, is the norm. Just take a look at the events that took place at the recent Turkish Pride march.

Let's celebrate a city, and country, which allows all of us in turn to celebrate what makes us gloriously different.

It's not real time I think. So doesn't update other votes until you click.

Most major cities have them in the next few weeks.

Maybe because it’s an event which is normally free entry? Is it not the same as posting the normal Rrp of a TV?
Either way, it is a great free day out
Are the floats man powered or are they the type which just adds to polution?

What sort of a question is that? Even if the floats run on diesel at 1 mpg the roads are going to be closed so 1000s of cars will be off the road while it's taking place. win win.

FREE London Pride.
No thanks.
How much does this normally cost?
Because TBH if the answer is "it's always free" then this should be moved to misc as a heads up as it isn't actually a deal.

It's in Freebies... what's the problem ?
I went last year and had an amazing time! I was only spectating the parade and yes it did run late which was annoying. But not as annoying as the guy, who was part of the parade, decided to grab my chest as he was walking by
Its Pride in London (or Pride London) as London Pride is a beer!!
Also, the fact the parade takes four hours to go past you isn't because it is running late, it is just a really really long parade!
Is buju banton performing?
Be careful familys last year at Manchester the 'Manchester rubbermen' and human pups weren't dressed for the kids!

All participants should have genitals and buttocks covered (as well as breasts for the ladies).
I used to go it was always fantastic, loved most of the crowd, some very funny people along the rout,

I'm gay and totally agree with your comment. It's a family event too and children should not have to see that.

Well exposing genitals is illegal in general (public indecency), but if someone choose to wear an outfit all in rubber or leather than still covers them I don't see a problem, but some think that isn't child friendly. As long as it isn't illegal where is the problem!

Is this for my safety??
