Great deal, I'd assume most ppl on this site would be looking to do this on the cheap, how dangerous is Rio if your not staying in the big main hotels, budgeting with restaurants out of the centre etc
cheers.

Search for the most dangerous areas and avoid them Avoid going out after 9pm and showing off expensive stuff (watches, tablets) and you will be fine. Hot deal!

When you click on the link, it shows the lowest price as £458.21. So presumably already gone.

Most of the city is off limits.
I got robbed on the copacabana Boardwalk at 7pm.....so your not safe even in the main tourist areas.

Must have been unlucky been twice once for work and once for play, never had any trouble in Coca or Ipanema, £ goes a long way.
Definitely one of the must go places along with New Zealand south island.

You can have problems anywhere, once had a syringe pulled out on me in Bologna Italy.

I have been to a lot of countries and have to say Rio is AS DANGEROUS AS THEY SAY IT IS. When I was there I had lots of people getting robbed on a daily basis. There was even a story in the media that a bus full of seniors (from USA? Europe?) was bus jacked and they took it to the top of the mountain .. robbed everyone at gunpoint and then took off with the bus, leaving the seniors stranded on the top of the mountain.

I am just planning another trip to South America and definitely leaving Brazil off the list. No apologies for saying all this .. the country needs to clean up it's act! or continue suffering from dwindling tourists. On the other hand Colombia is a very positive turn around story.
