Description from ASDA site:
Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman return for another unforgettable adventure - This time riding the Long Way Down!

Facing a brand new set of challenges the intrepid pair discover spectacular but unforgiving terrain, rich cultures and unforgettable local characters. They travel from John O'Groats to Cape Town descending through Western Europe and Africa before arriving at the southern most tip of the continent. On their incredible journey their endurance, biking skills and friendship are tested to the limit. They are partnered along the way by friends and producer / directors Russ Malkin and David Alexanian who were responsible for organising the expedition and filming the documentary. This 3 disc special edition contains the entire extended 10 part TV series of Long Way Down with an additional 2 hours of episode footage. It also features one hour of new extras, including Ewan and Charley's "The Missing Face" documentary - the story of the pairs first trip to Africa, unseen and extended footage, enhanced photo gallery and interactive route maps.

nice fine, good show

The bubble burst for them with this one. They whinged their way through Europe and Northern Africa only stopping when the trip nearly fell apart. Only entertaining bit in the first half was when they found a German couple that had done it all years before and without the aid of a guard, medic, pit crew and a gold Amex. Think Ewan recognised the hipocracy of it all for a moment.
Not a bad price though...

Checked at my local Asda this afternoon - dvd was priced at £12 something not £3!

Couldnt agree more, they made it out to be a massive thing and to be honest i dont think it is.

Lots and lots of people could do it and the german couple proved it.

Is it the 2-Disc or 3-Disc? I assume it would be the 2-Disc set, but the description says it is 3.

Very true. I disliked the way they did it as I have traveled Africa , South & Central America over 12 years ago. I had no aid, medic or fame to help me through just shear determination for adventure.
The up side to this series is hopefuly it will get people thinking & kick some people into action. There are lots of overland adventures people can do.

If you are interested PM me for a great website with lots of Overland companies to get you started. I have no link with it I just like promoting world travel.

Still thanks to the OP for the deal.

the 1st one they did was amazing,LONG WAY ROUND,,this one was no where near as good in my book and the bit where his wife joined ruined it even more

Determined to have a long look around Latin America one day oh and NZ. Have done the usual bits of East and West Europe and bits of northern and commercial South Africa.
Do it before you're to old to regret it.

Rhinopaul, have some rep. for your travels.

You're making it out to sound a LOT easier than I'm sure it is. Read the book of the Long Way Round and you'll get some idea of the planning and resources involved in doing a trip like this on bikes.

I would love to do the Transamerican Highway one day, but it could easily take a year of my life from planning to finishing.

was about to say somthing along those lines ,dont know about the dvd, reading the book just now and its great, bargain at £3.86 in tesco.

I missed the first one, and only watched this one when it was repeated late night over christmas, but got the first DVD set based on how much i liked this one --- well, after watching the first four episodes of the first one i can honestly say that the first is a lot lot better, especially when the wander and meet strange people and stay with them while genuinely ******** their pants.

Voted neither hot nor cold as i like the first better

Just want to confirm that this is £3 in my local Asda - Watford.

will be nipping to ASDA tomorrow to have a look, not as great as long way round but still good and well worth the money

Can someone confirm that it is the 3disc edition that is £3 in store? The image and description above is for the 3 disc but I want to be sure before I go. Thanks.

The extended 10 episode version is being shown on National Geografic (SKY 526) channel starting July.

thanks .

Yup just went and bought one from asda killingbeck, leeds. Two copies left on the shelves. 3 Disc version is full price but 2 disc only 3 quid. Thanks OP, heat+ rep added.

bought this from hmv for dad this christmas, opened it up, the security tag ripped the cover and i discovered to my dismay that two disc ones were inside. hmv refused to replace it as the cover had been torn due to their security tag!

I'm pretty sure it was a 2 disc edition. Sorry for the late response - and I should have had my mobile with me to take the photo of the price.

1st series was ace, this was just a lads jolly paid for by the BBC Licence fee....one of them even says during the programme that he feels like he's on the gap year he never had! Nice work if you can get it inbetween earning millions for making sh1te star wars films.

EH???? I'm not saying he hasn't got any talent - I'm saying this was a free jolly paid for by the TV licence payer with him even admitting it!
