Great price for the newly released titles

great price, hot from me, but I wouldn't touch the non extended versions. Had them when the film was released on DVD and completed the story, about as much as you can without sticking to the book properly, like Jackson did.

Trilogy now £39.99.

They'll get cheaper. Nobody in their right mind wants the theatrical version on BD.

A good price, but the quality of the first film is poor imho. Return of the king looks great on BluRay though.

Ordered the trilogy from Fopp on PriceMinister last week for about £18.. but they cancelled!

Good price all the same.

Or like me they might consider getting these to tide them over until the extended versions are released, especially as it could be two years until that happens, and you'll probably still be able to get £15 quid back on these.

Yeah i'm waiting for these to go sub £20 & then i'll grab them as the extended won't appear until 2012 & i'll get most of my money back anyway .

I'm in no rush, would rather wait for extended if I re-buy this on blu ray. Also disappointing to hear the picture quality ain't that great, you'd think it would be top notch - bluray.highdefdigest.com/231…tml

Having said that, good price if you do want it, so still hot.

lol do you not understand the concept of buying all three films separately @ 7.99 each or you could use your method and pay an extra 16 quid for a cardboard sleeve to put them all in....

The guy was only pointing out the price of the trilogy had increased, he never said it was a better deal?

Watched the first one on Blu Ray and it didn't blow me away. The PQ was not as amazing as some reviews I read. I was prepared to buy the triology if the PQ had been amazing. But it was only marginally better than the upscaled dvd. So I will wait for the extended editions which, hopefully, will have some collectable figurine with them. Here's hoping.

I've only ever seen the theatrical versions via the cinema and have never seen an extended version of any of the films. Have i missed much?

Over an hour !
And it's an hour that makes parts of the stories hang together much better
It was only ever cut because the cinema's inised on beng able to show two showings a night.

1 hour per film?

the problem is ( which the film studios dont seem to have grasped ) .... is that you can fool joe public when dvd first came out ...... i.e. release a 2nd extented version later .. but now blu-ray is out ....we wont fool for it again

i saw the film in cinema - pre extended ....and enjoyed it .. but there is no way in hell i'd buy it after owning the extended version .. its like watchiing aliens or the abyss extended versions and then being offered the inferior sorter ones ...no thanks

Three hours in total, I think! Makes it all gel a bit better.

extended is the only way to go for sure
but if it get's sub £20 I will be tempted :-D

Soon be the cheapest trilogy boxset out there. Hmmmm....wonder why? Would seem the buyers are staying away in their droves. That's one in the eye to those dastardly double dipping distributors!

At £19.99 (which is where they are quickly heading) still wouldn't touch 'em. Reason?....I wouldn't enjoy them now...every two minutes I'd be thinking ....HEY they left a bit out! It'd be like watching Star Wars without the Cantina sequence or Superman without seeing Krypton blow up.

The reason these were rushed out is because the company who released them has lost the rights and Warner will do the EEs.

EEs are great cinema and well worth the wait.

These were overpriced on day 1 and will be forgotten soon enough as there'll be no new production of these titles by the company concerned (EIV).

Well I think even the theatrical versions go on too long...

Now if they took all 3 films and combined them into one 2 hour movie I might but it.

I got mine from PriceMinister as well, through gzoop. Miss price of £16.49 for the trilogy, got delivered yesterday. Because it was my first order I got £5 off and £2 quidco, so it's cost me £9.49 for the trilogy. :w00t:

Its not quite that much. Just over 30 mins for the first, 42 for the second, and 48 for the third.

LOL. You could buy this and just watch the trailers in the extras! That'd get it down to about 6 minutes.
