Lord of the Rings: Shadows of Angmar - 2000 FREE copies available from Eurogamer this Friday (24th April)

Just saw the deal from Codemasters on the front page, and thought people might like to know that Eurogamer will be giving away 2000 free copies of this game on Friday 24th at 3pm, to celebrate the 2nd anniversary of its release.

You will need to register at Eurogamer to be eligible (takes all of about a minute).

Those who are lucky enough to get one will recieve a key to download the full edition of the game, along with 30 days free play.

Gone a bit chilly in here? Is there a reason? If so, please feel free to share.................

It's a subscription game and the freebie doesn't even include the expansion pack.

They may as well give a million copies away. 98% of the people will delete the game after the 30day demo period expires.

In effect it's a 30day demo with a £10 off voucher.

I stand corrected, it's a demo with a £5 off voucher then. :gift:

Don't miss understand me. I love RPG and Strategy games. I have been hooked playing DOW for years and can't do a day without firing up Fallout 3 - I just don't like the pricing strategies of the MMORPG creators.

Pay for the game, pay double for the expansion pack, pay a monthly subscription, pay for cool items, to look a little different.
No game, regardless of how good it is, is worth paying £120 or more per year for. :w00t:

Hot for a months free play. A good MMO will always be worth 120 quid a year if you really get into it as you'll be saving money by not doing other things. Also hot for those that might want a hard copy. The nature of this gaming is peaks and troughs, cancelling, uninstalling and changing your mind happens a lot and online downloads can take forever if you want t get onlne fast, then will be the patches. Heat added but i won't go for it as sci fi mmo's are more my cup of tea.

Fab post, managed to bag 2 codes, one for me and one for my partner so we can both try it together :))

Glad a few people have been able to make use of this offer

Meh; took almost 24 hours to download the ~10gb. (and the installation & registration process is pretty terrible; fragmented and obtuse)

Played it for ~5 minutes, and was bored =/
Just looks like a grind fest intermingled with loads of written dialogue (which is in a font far too small to comfortably read on a 37" TV @ 1920x1080).

If I want to read pros, i'll read a book - if there is a need for loads of dialogue it should all be voice acted. (not just the first 3 words of every page)

Rep. to the op. for posting this give-away though
