According to this Amazon price tracker, it has been this price for several months (barring the odd blip):

uk.camelcamelcamel.com/Rin…1CQ

I'm waiting for it to go lower, because I'm a miser.

Well worth this price, truly amazing versions of already amazing films.

That's the standard theatrical set.
I was hoping this might have taken a dive tomorrow for Black Friday.

Oh yes, please let that happen. £25 would be great.
These are due to be released individually on Blu-Ray on 3rd December although I think it is the same versions as the boxset, ie meaning you still have to swap the disc over half way through each film. I'll be in the market if they release the theatrical and extended version with seamless branching like they did with the DVD. I'd happily sacrifice all the extra features for the film(s) on a single disc. Then again their arrival on indivdual blu ray might mean the boxset price is reduced further. Either way the individaul blu rays are listed in the £17 to £18 mark which is too high but will likely drop considerably once the 'must-haves' who buy on the day of release have gone.

How many discs do you need to swap to watch one of the films? If any?
yeah i will wait till its <£20 as i own all normal and extended versions on DVD, and i own the normal versions on Blu ray so i think i want them cheaper tbh.
top price, paid 49.99 when released, quality boxset!

Each films is spread over 2 discs, so you have to swap discs once per film. It's once too many in my opinion. Just press them on higher capacity BDs and be done with this nonsense!
I paid full price on these at release and dont regret if.

Awesome box set
it's been this price almost every day of the last 6 months at the very least... always in my basket waiting to go sub £30 again as it did pre-xmas 2011

Amazon UK's Black Friday starts this monday 19th and runs to Sunday 25th. The countdown page is here.
I'll buy once it drops to a tenner in a few years time - the DVD box set was the same price and had a drop as I detailed. Like many I have seen them all so many times that I have no problem in waiting.

Not the extended edition.
I got these for £35 from tesco ages and ages ago. but if anyone is sitting on the fence then buy them, so much better than the theatrical versions. even my girlfriend agrees. extra 3 hours not wasted at all. hot
Like a lot of people I'm waiting for this to go to less than twenty quid... Maybe fifteen...

Tenner would be good!

I am completely mystified by this two disk issue so many people have, this was a prevalent complaint on the std def extended editions. I am not especially genned up on the technical aspect of it, but I imagine there is a reason they are spread over two disks. Regardless, is the blu ray player perhaps located in a different building, locked in a safe? Is it that much of an effort that once in 4 hour film a change of disk is required?

What am I missing here?

this 2 disc business could stop people getting sweat rashes, itching and possibly DVT and other circulatory disorders.
In America today on Amazon.com the price of this has dropped to $43.49 (£27.42) so it may drop in the UK as well for a 1 day special.

I'm no bothered by the disc swap as I want the best picture and sound quality.

According to Camelcamelcamel, the lowest this has ever been was £38.99. Will it ever be cheaper?? I'd go for it at £20 but not a big enough fan for this price.

According to my records, I got it for £30 from Tesco Entertainment on 25 November last year.
I'll keep waiting as I think this set is both overpriced and a con. The extras are all the same stuff as on the extended DVD sets, and are on DVD's too, not blurays. The films are the exact same cuts as the Platinum DVD set, so the only benefit is slightly better picture and sound quality. When you consider they are over 10 years old now, and that other movie sets such as The Matrix or Alien Legacy sets can be had for less than a tenner on bluray, the EIGHT film set of Harry Potter is under £25, and the extended DVD sets or theatrical BD sets of these very movies can be had for under £15, the price of this set is extortionate. I'll pay £25 max, or my money stays in my pocket !!!!

I totally agree with you 100%.

I recently got to see these on Blu-Ray and was totally blown away with the improvement over the DVD release that I have owned for years that I just had to buy them.

The only thing that worries me is that they say that this release is a LIMITED release, which makes me think they will pull this set off the shelves at some point and bring another set out with maybe the Hobbit on it and you end up playing the waiting game all over again.

Having said that the recent one day offer in the USA on Amazon where it was £27 for the lot does give a little hope for others that there might be some offers over Christmas.
Postman has just dropped mine off now, it's going to be a long weekend, Lol.
Nothing for Monday on the Black Friday lightning deals...
