These cameras run over coaxial cable and the quality of the image is limited by that. The latest technology which gives better images is power over the ethernet or poe for short. Have a look at the videos from use-ip on youtube they are a good place to learn about cameras. Hope this helps.
There are lots of 1TB 1080p kits on Amazon for about £160.

Whilst PoE is good they are considerably more expensive than a system like this.

If you are putting these outside, PoE or not avoid the bullet cameras like these as they attract spiders and at night time all you'll see is spiderweb.
Hi sam800,

Ithought id give feedback as I'm looking to purchase a CCTV system myself. I voted cold only because I was able to find something the same or better at a much lower cost but I'm still not sure whether this is a bargain or not?

This is what I found:
amazon.co.uk/SAN…ctv

I believe it's cheaper as well with the Amazon promotions and it is fulfilled by Amazon.

The BF/Xmas Gearbest Floureon deals seem to suggest that coaxial isn't so bad if it's the newer AHD, the full HD cameras send the uncompressed signal over coaxial (which has the advantage of long distance) and the dvr compresses on record.
Over ethernet cable, the video has to be compressed I understand.
As you say, take a look at youtube for 2MP camera/AHD reviews.

This deal is cold not from the tech point of view but it's a normal price. The £30/50/60/camera-no-hdd discount prices are worth biting at.

Not necessarily true. I run HD-CVI cameras over RG59 coax which is a digital system and the same quality as POE.
I believe I've read that Lorex sell a lot of rebranded Dahua stuff, so this is probably pretty good.

The cameras will probably be HD-CVI rather than AHD. Some reviews I've read suggest HD-CVI is slightly better than AHD. Both tend to offer better value for money than equivalent quality IP systems.
