Just to add a little more (building on Karbons info)

Acer Aspire blk ES1:

39.6 cm (15.6") HD (1366 x 768) 16:9 CineCrystal

Dell Inspiron 15-3552 Laptop

Webcam + Bluetooth
Windows 10 64bit

Acer ES1 431

HP Stream 11
Windows 10 (pre-installed)
Intel® Celeron™ Processor N3050
Memory: 2 GB
Storage: 32 GB eMMC

Acer ES1 521
amd A6 2.4ghz
windows 8.1
8GB ram
1TB 5400 HDD

Those are only from a quick google around so maybe worth double checking.

None of them are stellar performers to say the least.
For a bit of social media/browsing/etc they may just about suffice but there's certainly MUCH better specs to be had for similar money if you hunt around a bit/wait for another deal.

In this day and age, the most basic machine I'd consider worth most peoples time would be an i3 or above (any generation) with 8GB. Those DO show up around the £250 mark once in a blue moon so jump on one of those

Nationwide??

The screen on the HP stream 11 is atrocious, I went in before Christmas to have a look at one for my son.
Not voting though as some of the others might be decent.

I really want a small (max 13") laptop that isn't one of the 32GB eMMC ones, for £200 or so. Could do with it as my netbook is doing my head in, but may have to wait until I'm more flush, but when that's the case I won't need one so urgently!

I was going to go for the refurbished x220 Thinkpad that was on here last week, but if the battery is shot it's a fair whack for a new official battery. Thought about the Acer, but used to fix computers and Acers were terrible, my dad's Acer is crap too.

Tesco laptops are always overpriced, any deal might bring them down to normal price but they are never very good spec anyway, wouldnt get one for my 10 yr old daughter!

Thank you OP. Got Parrot Airborne Cargo Drone, Mars/White from Kingston Park @ £39, that seems to be the last in the shelf. Others were at £49 (red or yellow). Did not come across any Laptops (I just glanced through)

Here starteth the great Tesco wild goose chase.

As this deal has some heat (I'm not after knocking it so held back with alternatives) here's a decent laptop for similar money. It's not quite deal worthy but something to put this perhaps in perspective:

laptopsdirect.co.uk/len…asp

Only thing I can't get from that spec is if this is the fullHD screen or the 1366x768 one. Still, for £280 (comparable or a moderate stretch more than here) there's quite a lot more laptop for the money. Likely the poorer screen, but still.

Some A2 refurbs on that site (which will generally have the mildest of cosmetic damage, perhaps just damaged packaging) offering i5's for £250.

It says "up to full hd", so I think that's a generic description of the b50 range from Lenovo not this one on sale.

bargain for the stream.

What size screen does the Parrot laptop have?

Won't be any good ones at Chorley Extra. It appears that any offers that are highlighted on HUKD are bought by staff who work round the rules and claim the deals for themselves.

you're just proud to be different aren't you!

The Acer ES1-521 has already been posted as a deal at Tesco Direct for £199 !

are they national?

Have to try much harder Tesco.

You set the bar quite high when I picked up a decent/lowish spec HP for £30 a couple of years ago. Still going strong.

I just picked up a acer ES1 131 for £109, tesco instore.

Picked up the HP Stream 11 in Toxteth Superstore, Liverpool - great piece of kit though advertises 32GB storage but only got 5GB free on my 21GB C Drive *perplexed* thus I can't upgrade to Windows 10 without an external drive - no complaints though for £89!!

Any such deals found in London??

HP Stream 11 was 89 Pounds in Bulls Bridge Tesco, Just picked 1 up, said they had 3 left

Were there any left at Toxteth by any chance?

Plug in a USB stick to give it the space to upgrade. In the options I got it to wipe everything to do a clean install. I then used the partition manager to remove the recovery partition and freed up another 8GB of space.

Admittedly then I did sell it but it worked fine. I just no longer needed the machine.

Runs Linux ok too
