I have been looking for a laptop for a couple of weeks managed to bag the last used Dell XPS 13 9360 8th Gen i5 for £799 including John Lewis 3 year Parts and labour Warranty. They also had XPS 13 2 in 1 for around £1050 and an Inspiron 15 5770 with i7 8th Generation for £599. Plenty of i7 Lenovo's some by the till and some by the main laptop display. All with either 2 or 3 year warranties.

Worth a look if you are in the area and some good buys to be had so long as you don't mind customer returns. Radios and speakers as well but not sure which ones.

John Lewis Watford had a MS Surface Book 2 with 512 ssd down from £2499 to £1999 didn't look as though it had been used but just an unsealed box.You have to ask to see this.

Bummer...I'm not there right now
Was in the Croydon store Friday looking at laptops. Speaking to sales staff too. Maybe I missed it but didn't see any offers or get told about them. Perhaps call and check before making a trip.

I was tempted by the Dell 5770 but just couldn't get past the pretty bad screen. I'd make sure you see one before ordering. Went with a Lenovo 520s.

Website not much use to you but always worth asking in any John Lewis. High Wycombe is worth popping into if you are local some good and some not so good deals. I only looked at the 8th gen laptops but there were plenty of 7th gens. All would be customer returns same warranty and returns policy as new that what makes them a good deal. The Surface Book 2 was tempting as that literally just had the wrapper off but just to expensive for me that was at John Lewis Watford.

I always ask when buying something as you can get lucky like the XPS 13 I got. I have also used the warranty before on a previous laptop and tablet and turnaround time was about 2 weeks for repair which I think is pretty good.

Thanks for the tip. I didn't think to ask about discounted laptops when I was in there. XPS 13 sounds like a great deal.

So true it's a flipping nightmare.
John Lewis Solihull do this. I think they are mostly customer returns. Some great bargains can be had all with the JL 2 year cover. I had an ipad never been touched £150 off and iMac for £649 which should have been £1049 and half price Roberts radio and bose speaker. The only annoying thing is you go one week and you can't move for the discounted stuff inc. TV s etc. you then go in two weeks later and nothing is there. I haven't worked out how and when it comes onto the shop floor.

They call it a 'Clearance' and advertise it widely(eg after Christmas) - you know, like a SALE anywhere else!

Yes they are very hot and miss. Clearance is end of line stock or special buys good deals but not the bargains the used ones are. God knows how they decide on price mind there were around half a dozen laptops no power supply or box and they were just £50 off and yet my XPS boxed £200 off doesn't make sense. Got a pair of b and w px s a few weeks back for £229 boxed looked unused.
was there any Dell XPS 13 left?
@plugman17
Only the 2 in 1 at around £1050 I shall be going to blue water on Saturday so will have a look there and update. There was only one XPS 13 i5 8th gen out on the shop floor which I bought so I guess not but there could have been more just not out. Unlikely though worth an ask if you are local.

They don't call it a clearance, I've never seen it advertised, it's not just after Christmas and it is not a sale. But apart from that your sentence is fairly accurate.
Will have a look...

Apology unnecessary!

PS Any thoughts of posting a deal yourself? You have been hanging around here for 10 years now!

Well had a look in Bluewater and the offer of 3 year warranty has finished they had some deals but nothing on 8 gen processors. The only XPS was again the 2 in 1 at £999 for the i5 and I think £1199 for the i7. Anyone interested should look on the cards in store some near the laptops and some more near the TV's. Nothing really jumped out.
hello I just found another one at the same price in the High Wycombe store along with a surface pro 4 for £549
Must admit I have taken this back to John Lewis Watford. Nothing wrong with it but managed to get at Watford an xps 15 for £800. Its the older model (i7 6700hq), 512gb SSD, Nvidia 960 but it just suites me better. I am sure the XPS 15 will be on sale soon there, 2 year guarantees only now.
