Just been to Ikea Milton Keynes & spotted these. 3x bulbs 11 watt low energy with the screw type fitting. There were loads there & it didn't look like it was a store specifric deal.

Probably is not store specific - Tesco are selling them for 10p each at the moment.

Asda too; only 11 watt at this price though.

These are 10p at b&m in milton Keynes also

Sainsbury doing 14w .. 3 for 29 p

Great deal. Lidl doing same bulbs for 3 for 30p.

Let's face it, for some reason everyone has a deal on lightbulbs right now!

2 questions I cannot answer:

Why do supermarkets have rafts of screw fitting light bulbs on the shelves, begging the question as to why so many are manufactured, when most people in this country still use bayonet fitting?

Why do the lowest wattage bulbs, equivalent to 25W especially, and 40W cost more than the higher wattage ones, when the whole point is supposed to be saving energy?

I guess it's to do with supply/demand. Companies sell larger quantities of the higher wattage bulbs than the low wattages making the overall cost (to manufaturers) of high wattage equivalent bulbs cheaper.

I hate the 2700k bulbs (yellowy light) which are sold for peanuts.
I prefer the 4400-6500k temperature (cool white - daylight) bulbs. They're more expensive though but looks a lot better and natural.

They only sell them this cheep as they get carbon footprint points of the government that = tax breaks

Not all bulbs are created equal. The ASDA ones made by GE are terrible. They buzz so loud you can hear an upstairs light from downstairs. Of all the brands I've tried so far, only Philips are silent.

good price nonetheless
