Am not sure why someone would stay around the airport though. There's cheap.... And there's hassle
2.9/5?

From a quick google, the reception is behind bulletproof glass, there's mice in the rooms, questionable stains on the sheets, empty crack vials lying around, and it's in a dodgy part of town.

If you made it home alive I'm sure you'd have some interesting anecdotes, but it's not a particularly cheap hotel so why risk it?
Why on earth would you go all the way to somewhere like NYC and stay at Newark

.. especially when flying into JFK. Mind boggles.

Exactly. 30 odd miles and over an hour drive between Newark and JFK. Not worth the hassle.
Why oh why would you want to stay in an airport motel at a different airport to the one you fly into? It'd be like flying into Heathrow and stopping at Luton when visiting London.
You'd be better off staying in a Youth Hostel in Manhattan if you want budget! Or splash a bit more cash and get a hotel room in Manhattan.
The first time I went to new york, I stayed in a hostel ten minutes from times square for just over £100 for six nights. Ok, it was eight years ago, but this "deal" is ridiculous. If you want cheap, have a proper dig around. You can find cheap accommodation in Manhattan

Just a guess: feeling suicidal and on shopping spree urging to burn some cash..
staten island has some great reasonably priced hotels , is a nice area which feels safe & pleasant free ferry trips to manhatten
Not even cheap this. And hardly the New York you are after. Keep searching. And if you have booked, Cancel!
beauty of a package -WOW! what would you consider a poor deal?

You do realise the hotel is in New Jersey, right?
Also spend same again on meals/sightseeing, works out around £500/ day, that ain't cheap!

£500 a day on Meals and Sightseeing?

I've not been to NY but I've been to London which is a more expensive place than New York

Where are you eating, are you taking taxis or the tube train/buses
Are you eating Fastfood or Michelin starred restaurants

That comment reminds me of this amusing series on Youtube.

I can vouch for Z NYC Hotel in Long Island as a great budget option. Only a 10 minute trip into Manhattan using their free shuttle busses which leave every 30 mins. I'd definitely stay there again.

I meant spend £750 over the 3 days, giving £1500 total spend, that's a lot for 3 days?

Think it adds a bit of spice to a holiday staying somewhere like this. Especially on a night time, bet it's a right laugh!
Well looks like this hasn't gone down to well and sarcasm has missed most.
Even at disregarding the hotel , just over £350pp for the flights isnt to bad as thats the exact same price give or take just for the flight's alone .
I should rename this as flights to NYC with a take or leave it accomodation .
