So which is better? An electric toothbrush or a manual?

My electric toothbrush came with a manual.

Best of both worlds.

From a not had one of these versions in the family vaults and always had Sonicare ones, this model is just utterly brilliant, considering that when it is not in the sales and sells anyway, its over £200!

User we got one for, has requested one as a gift for xmas for her mum and after she showed us the difference via a few selfies of her teeth a month ago VS last week, pretty shocked at how white, clean and sparkly they looked!
It's and "ok" deal (anything more than this is for suckers). This size of this oral b toothbrush combined with the lithium ion battery are it's only selling points imo. The smart 6 is probably a better deal because I suspect 99% of people only ever use the basic brushing mode so all the other "fancy" marketing gimmicks go to waste.
Oral B Pro 2 2000 has everything your teeth need and none of the gimmicks you won't use. £30 is the going 'deal' rate.
Still don't understand how they can charge this amount for something that is a battery, motor and charger!

Just remember this has a Lithium battery (like genius 8000 and Smart 6) and all the others have Ni-Mh batteries. That alone is a big difference. Not that explains the big price tag though.

I agree. I was a sucker for pointless features when I first started buying these things.

I now have the 2000 and my teeth haven't fallen out, yet.

No. It's just very very expensive for what it is. The 2000 series go for about £25* and it's difficult to see what you get (that's worth having) to justify paying more than three times as much.

(* except when on special offer at £45-50)

Slightly off white teeth here. I don't like paying for gimmicks. My Oral B Pro 2 2000 does the job.
Looking at my Amazon history, I bought the "Oral B 2000" in Sep 2011 for £36. It lasted 2 years, the metal tip snapped off.
Then I bought the "Oral B 600" for £22 which has been working fine for more than 5 years now.
I don't think you need to spend more than that. You'll never use the extra gimmicks the pricier models have.

You're correct, when I bought my Smart 6, it wasn't around I guess.

The 8000 & 9000 are improved, offering 10,500 oscillations and up to 48,000 pulsations compared to 8,800 oscillations and 40,000 pulsations on the 2000N up to the 8000. I personally don't think they are worth the big jump in price though.

The current Pro 2 range (e.g. the 2000N & 2500N) all have Lithium Ion batteries, it was the previous series that all had NiMH.

The only thing 'genius' about these is the marketing dept's ability to extract more than twice the needed £ from people for pointless 'features'. Stick with a £30 Pro2 2000.

As for the RRP - ho, ho, ho!
