KEF LS50 Wireless Speakers (Pair) - Gloss Black/Blue - Refurbished £1399 @ Audio Affair

Not a deal for everyone but with brand new rrp being £1999 this represents a significant saving @ £1399. Bought a pair myself and to be fair if I didn’t know they were refurbished I would have thought them brand new also comes with 5 year manufacturer warranty(vs 2 years for being new)
Essentially theses speakers are an ‘all in one’ solution providing high end hifi separates performance in a much smaller package. I also used a voucher code to get a further £25 discount (think this is now expired but store seems to be quite active with online discount vouchers so worth googling)

I think you’re referring to the LS50 normal passive speakers which seem to retail at £700ish you’d still need to buy an amp and a source to go with it. These are active speakers and have 4 built in amps so can stream directly from pc / phone. All very confusing took me a while to understand KEFs naming convention! They won what hifi product of the year and have been constantly on the Best Buy list

Has there been a significant increase in price for these? I paid significantly less for my LS50s, brand new. Not that long ago.

Was it the wireless or wired you bought?
It’s the wireless as some one has pointed out it’s a relative concept as each speaker still needs power. However cuts down significantly on the space needed for a separates system
Voted hot
but you just know this is going to go so cold

Ain’t that true it’s only a deal if you’re into high end hifi. A Bose soundlink mini will do the same job for 1/14 of the price
Love KEF stuff so hot from me

Ah, didn't realise that these were the active version.
Heated, but not my thing.
In it's own way, one hell of a deal.

It definitely will not do the same job

Was not happy with sound of sound link mini

The best value bluetooth speaker I've got is a cambridge audio one

True, was being somewhat facetious. But like fine wine, high end watches etc etc you have to be in the market for such a product.
Good deal. Shame the software for a lot of high end hifi is terrible. I struggled with the lsx software. Moved to a Naim system which is even worse.

I actually though the Naim software was better certainly more flexible (I’ve also got the Naim mu-so). Varies between phone os the kef streaming software is not great on iPhone but pretty good on android

Is it? Really tempted to get a Nova?!

I’ve got the nova. It’s quite buggy. The volume slider on the app seemed to stop working properly with a recent update.
I tried the Roon trial and I think that’s spoilt me on what a good UI can look like.

Oh no, is it worth the extra ££ than the Star, I’m torn, Roon works with the Uniti correct?
I believe it does! Only just tried Roon with the Kefs. The nova was overkill for my needs but I bought it second hand so was ‘only’ about £2800. I think it’s been as low as £2500 second hand on eBay.

Initially I had it in my bedroom as I wanted to hook my tv up to a receiver. But the acoustics were terrible. Depending on what side of the bed I was at, the closest speaker would drown out the other speaker so it didn’t feel like stereo. The only option in the software is a speaker balance option where you can make one speaker quieter.

I wish I went for the NAD m10 as that has room equalisation.
I don't know anything about these speakers but they're small like studio small (quite small) mains amped monitors. With not a very extended bass (it appears) You'd need a subwoofer or two to make these full range IMO. The cones are only 5" !
So, expensive (however they've been reviewed IMO)
One wonders why they've been returned.....

I would listen before you purchase, I believed the hype for these and was thoroughly disappointed with them.

PA speaker? Public Address speaker? Maybe you mean a full range monitor? The spec say frequency response down to 50 cycles ard as they don't appear to have a port that isn't surprising. The clue is they have a subwoffer output.
As always audition first ... I auditioned a pair of these before I purchased my LSX and they really are superb. I also auditioned many combinations of amps / speakers before going for the LSX and up to £1400 nothing I listened to could match them.

This is for the Wireless version which has a RRP of approx £2000, I bet you bought the wired ones which have a significantly lower RRP of approx £800.

Was waiting for the ‘my Bose/KRK does the same job for a fraction of the price’ Heat from me for those in the market for this model

We already established that quite some time ago.
Wouldn't it be better to have the passive ones with a seperate amp? Worse case these probably have a class D chip amp in them.

I feel for true hifi at this level I'd rather have the flexibility and choose the amp.

Plus, if the amp dies your speakers will still be worth something.

I love Kef speakers but I think these are over priced for what they are.
Heat added..it’s a great deal
