To confirm - You must take up ANOTHER contract with Tesco mobile after paying the £48 for these devices, but if you were looking to take out a Tesco Mobile contract anyway there is no way you'd be able to get these devices for any cheaper.

Lumia 530 retails for £59.99, Linx Tablet retails for £79.99, these are the general prices from most retailers (though of course there are always sale prices and voucher offers)

If you are already looking at taking out a contract with Tesco Mobile you may be able to get a Nokia Lumia 530 and Linx 7 inch Windows tablet for £48 (ok, the phone is not that great, but the tablet seems to get some love on HUKD)

Tesco have an 'Anytime Upgrade' deal on the Lumia and Linx tablet. With these anytime upgrade deals your contract comprises 2 parts, a monthly payment for the line rental/minutes/texts/data, and a monthly payment for the device(s)

For this 24 month deal you pay £9 a month for 250 minutes, 5000 texts and 500mb data, and £2 a month for the phone and tablet.
At any point in the contract you can pay whatever is remaining of the £2 a month to effectively end the contract, on the proviso that you begin another contract.

---------------------------------
Me: so, just to be clear, I take up this offer for the Lumia 530 phone and Linx 7 inch tablet, and after any time of my contract I pay up the remaining £2 per month - then I am free to choose any new phone deal even for example the Moto E at £7.50 a month, and this will start a new contract?
E-chat Agent: Yes, you are absolutely correct and that's the benefit of any time upgrades deals.
Me: amazing! ok thanks for your help I appreciate you taking the time to explain this to me :-)
E-chat Agent: You're most welcome.
---------------------------------

So if you are thinking about taking out a new contract with Tesco this would suggest that you can take this deal, then pay off £48, keep the 2 devices and then take out another deal for the phone you want.

As long as you accept that you are going to have to keep a Tesco contract one way or another this does seem like a good deal and it has been confirmed in fairly unequivocal terms that this is the case.

Of course, you may wish to confirm this is indeed the case before signing up, I take no responsibility for people getting contracts and this not working :0p

I make it £264, but it is still early

lol, I deleted my post as it is Tesco, so will go 2000000+ heat anyway....so no point trying to point out the obvious

looks the same as O2 Refresh deals, which equally can work well if you cancel immediately - have some heat ...:D

I deleted my reply out of respect But I have read the OP twice now, what is the actual total cost?

so how do you end the contract? normally you pay it off.. it sounds like in this case, you do that and it starts again? forever?

Interesting - will come back later for a better read

yep..... this is a bog standard ...give us your soul for another 2 years and have what you want deal

Probably true and makes sense The tablet was being sold for around £ 45 and the Nokia was £ 35 ( Total £80) .

So 11 x 24 = 264 - 80 = 184 for the sim part only. spread over 2 years equals £7.66 per month. Not far from the £7.50 per month sim only deals available almost everywhere.

Tesco have just packaged it attractively.

On the other hand, you get Sim only deals for£5 from Talktalk with better minutes and data.

This works best if you are already in the market for a Tesco contract...

e.g.

I'm looking to get my mother in law the Moto E for £7.50 a month, so I use the above method and get a cruddy phone and half decent windows tablet (to complete the set as I already have an iPad, Nexus 7 and Fire HD6 ) and end up paying £48, then getting the £7.50 Moto E deal that I intended to take out in the first place.

Obv not for everyone, but useful for some.

as said above, sounds like the O2 refresh deal.

iam on chart with them they are saying you pay for the full cost when cancelling

according to chat you only pay for phone when you upgrade
NOT if you cancel if you CANCEL you pay full £11 x24

Yes - the point is, I'm looking to take out a contract with Tesco anyway, so this way I pay £48 for a Lumia 530 and Linx tablet, then take out the contract that I was going to get in the first place.

Pretty sure there is no cheaper way to get this hardware.

Hi op.
That is right. I took this out a few days ago instore, as I am already with tesco, I can get an added perk plus clubcard points. I have no intention of keeping the lumia so just deciding whether to keep the ee lg g3 deal or this. Your right, its like refresh But have to continue a contract

i also asked if you could "upgrade" to sim only and the answer was no you have to upgrade to a 24 month contract with a new phone on their site no really a deal at all only if you plan on buying a Tesco contract anyway then it works out a good deal

Yep, totally agree. I hope I've made that clear enough in the listing - I am getting a new Tesco contract so this works out as a good deal for me, I want to have a play around with Windows Phone/Tablet as I'm starting to get a little excited about the Lumia 1030 and want to make sure the OS is something I can deal with before that phone comes out, this way it's nice and cheap to test...

i understand the deal now but like others have said it looked like a o2 refresh deal where by you can cancel the contract by paying for the phone part of the plan and its not. i would change the title or write in bold or CAPS so people are aware. i know we should read the full post and it is all in the post but what people will see in the title especially people who have bought o2 refresh deals may see this as something else. But thanks for the posting the deal

misleading title, needs to be updated

So why bother Postimg misleading Deals in the first place for then? .. kinda makes less sense to me too/also?, so ..... :-(

Not good! lol.

Thank you poster.

Guys, I have tried this. Having major issues now from customer services saying you cannot do this. See what happens. Contract already taken out.
