Good butter beats margarine every time

Hot, you cant beat Lurpak

makes it £4 a kilo, the spreadable is £3 a kilo in asda at the moment

There's a time and place for everything. Spreadable for when you forgot to take it out of the fridge and your butter is rock hard and butter for when you had your eye on the ball or don't like the though of leaving your butter out forever.

This place has become weirdly elitist hasn't it?

We're talking about 'Butter'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We're talking about 'Whisky'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We're talking about 'iPhones'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We're talking about bronze-dye pasta!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jesus Christ, Don't talk to me about anything other than miniature 'Corn-fed, free range, at least two weeks holiday in Marbella per year Chickens'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And I am sure the reply will help others. There are many on here that think Lurpak spreadable is butter, it isn't, it is 25% VEGETABLE OIL. Disgusting.

excuse caps, it was an accident but it seemed to fit so I left them.

and it still isn't spreadable.

The salted butter is only 200g, not 250g, only unsalted and slightly salted are 250g.

Really? That's shocking. Butter has been supplied in 250g/half pound blocks as long as I can remember. Changing it now is going to look pretty bad for Lurpak when stacked up next to all the other makes.

edit and just for the record i voted the asda deal hot.

as stated above spreadable is only 60odd percent butter, matters for baking and for flavour when spreading.
i was only clarifying as your post seemed to imply that the only difference was price when thats not true.
(grow up lol)

to the other guy, not weirdly elitist just weirdly correct. facts eh? who needs em!?

Incorrect. Salted, Slightly Salted and Unsalted are all sold in 250g. The only Lurpak sold in 200g are the 'Speciality' versions ie: Lurpak with Sea Salt Crystals, Lurpak with Crushed Garlic etc.

You said this is 'about butter not butter with stuff added'.

You're now trying to make out that you were simply helping the simple minded who thought that Lurpak spreadable is butter? Ok.

I think you are trying to make an argument out of nothing. He simply was replying to the comment that for value per KG Spreadable butter still works out cheaper, by replying that it is not real butter...which is valid because the comparison is not like for like....for certain cooking such as puff pastry this form of whipped butter is not suitable.

Since then you seem to have just jumped on his comments with bullying, seems like you are the one with the problem.

If he is "elitist" by his comment, then equally you are a forum troll by attempting to antagonise a justified comment.

Not in Earls Court 24hr tesco.

I only get three options in the deal unsalted(250g)/slightly salted(250g)/sea salt(200g), no salted option, maybe it depends on store. I just assumed sea salt was their normal one (after all, all salt comes from the sea), I don't normally buy Lurpak. tesco.com/gro…445

All salt comes from the sea?

The bigger tubs 500g are on 2 for £4 as well. All flavours as far as I could tell.
