Sigh... yes you have to pay your TV license (or not if you have a 75+ year …Sigh... yes you have to pay your TV license (or not if you have a 75+ year old living with you), but assuming most of us do pay, then you pay nothing extra to watch Luther. And if you don't pay your TV license, then I don't suppose you're going to have any qualms about illegally watching the BBC iPlayer.

"And if you don't pay your TV License, then I don't suppose you're going to have any qualms about illegally watching BBC iPlayer".

Really? Don't judge everyone by your exceptionally low standards. YOU may be the type of person that would be happy NOT having a TV Licence and ILLEGALLY watching iPlayer, but I'm not. Nor is anyone I know.

Free on iPlayer for those who are frugal like me

Not free. You have to pay your TV Licence to watch/download programmes from iPlayer. Plus, it won't be on iPlayer forever.

You've totally misunderstood. My point is that if you are doing one then …You've totally misunderstood. My point is that if you are doing one then you're probably doing the other. And if everyone is a saint, then my original point (and the point of the other posters) stands. If you've already done your duty and paid your TV license, then Luther is effectively free for you. Especially if you didn't know it was there in the first place. You pay no more than you originally would have anyway.Stating "the BBC license is not free" does not change that fact.

I don't pay the TV Licence BECAUSE I don't WATCH or RECORD LIVE TV nor do I watch or download iPlayer programmes. You made some incorrect assumptions - and you are STILL doing it with:-

"My point is that if you are doing one then you're probably doing the other"

The key word there is "probably".

And if you want to play that game then you stated:
"You HAVE to pay your TV Licence to watch/download programmes from iPlayer". (my capitals.)

That's an incorrect assumption yourself. You don't have to pay in every circumstance.
Get well soon Idris!
