seems good

does anyone know what the charger looks like, i.e. is it a cradle/plug so torch is mounted next to the socket, or is it a cradle with a trailing cable so you can position it

Plug acts as a base to the torch and charges it, when on the base/plug the sensor is active soon as you take it off the torch comes one, these are great but a tiny bit bulky on the plug side but I would still buy more!

To be clear no cables are used, it's conductive charging and the torch sits ontop of the base/plug

thanks silentsource

sorry but any LED torch with more than one LED in the front is usually terrible. Try to get a torch with one powerful LED in the front.

2m range???? really? even my G'dad can see further than that with a match stick loll come on guys!!

Surely the 2m is for the IR sensor as stated in the OP otherwise anything more & everything would set it off...or have I misunderstood. Seems a great dual purpose device to me, heat added.

Hi,

Can anyone tell me how this charges?

I've just bought it and seen there aren't any charging contacts at the base of the torch and in the cradle of the so-called charger and you can't remove the batteries from the screw-off top, either.

Have I missed something?

I don't want to return it, as it seems very good, for the price.

There are no charging contacts - it uses inductive charging (like an electric toothbrush):

I agree - but then it depends what you want it for.
I love my aluminium mega torches from HK especially my SkyRay STL-V2 XM-L (very long thrower), but it doesn't have any of the features this has - horses for courses and all that, also my mega throw torch would be little use in confined spaces - ie a house, it would be too tight/bright!
This is a very handy little torch to have on the wall.

Bought be of these yesterday. Very impressed with it. On top of the landing for emergency lighting, and the motion sensor is very good, pick us up coming up the stairs and illuminated. Stays on about 20 secs and goes off, great for nipping out to the loo!

These are brilliant - we have three - one on the upstairs landing which means we don't need the landing light on at night anymore for the kids because as soon as either come out from their rooms to go to the bathroom it comes on, one in the kitchen - I can make a coffee in the night without putting the main lights on and a third in the conservatory - they all come on if we have a power cut and covers all the main areas for us. I think the 2m range is it won't trigger outside that range - you do need to be pretty close to them for them to come on - my only gripe is my husband keeps using the torch and forgetting to put it back again!! Well worth every penny.

How bright are the side lights? We have a cupboard under the stairs with a socket half way up the wall. Would this light up under the stairs quite well or are they dull like other night lights.

I bought 4 of these last time they were at Lidl which was about summer last year. 3 of them have failed :o(
They are great when they work, but make sure you keep your receipt. One of them stopped charging, on two of them the side LEDs stopped working and the other is still fine.
We have a small 3 bed house. We use one on our downstairs landing and another on the top landing. They light up both landings well. Not too bright and not too dim when you don't want to turn the main lights on (especially when leaving the door open to kids rooms etc.).
Great idea, build quality could be better.
I've ended up buying more of these, but I'm keeping the receipt this time!

Did you leave them permanently plugged in (which is what you're supposed to do)? I noticed that they get pretty warm - and stay that way if they're left plugged in. Not good for the batteries, I'm guessing, which effectively fry.

great for power cuts, plug in and forget. great having an always ready torch, superb for camping, plenty bright enough for home use. I'd buy again, but mine are still going strong.

We use the torch for a few minutes at a time for going in and checking on our kids sleeping and we also unplug them when hoovering, but apart from that, we leave them plugged in all the time. They do get warm, but nothing to be concerned about.

I agree there's nothing to be concerned about - just wondered whether the more or less constant heat is cutting short the life of the batteries. Someone reported a series of failures.

We bought two about a year ago and they are left plugged in all the time, both still work fine no problems.

Might be a good idea to un plug and run flat every now and again?

I got this the last time Lidl had them. It's excellent, well recommended.

good if its a night light too
