It's there sister site... (_;)
mmmmmthalis! Kerala is a beautiful state. We did Kochi for a few days then headed inland by public bus up into the hills. Hired a tuktuk tour guide and went around all the tea plantations. Then headed back towards the coast via the backwaters. Get the early morning public water bus; it's about 20 pence and you get to see everything and everyone waking up. It's a brilliant way to experience some of the way of life. I'd avoid the big house boats though. They seem to have become a caricature of themselves. Take a trip on a smaller little gondola or row boat and explore the tiny back waters. The food is exceptional! Just don't expect to find much booze - it's fairly dry! Communist state as well, which I found interesting. And they have 100% literacy with all children going to school.
India - nowhere else so dirty manages to be so enchanting. Give it a go, you will see things you wonder for the rest of your life did you really see it or just imagine you did. I had to live there for 2 months with my work, a great life experience, one of the best, but for honeymoon I'd stick to barbados or the seychelles unless your missus to be is a real hippie type and with robust digestive system.

Haha, yes the men having number twos in full view of the overnight train, a monkey riding a bike, cows in 4 lane highways, painted wooden tata trucks and black smoke clouds coming out of our tuctuc, oh and the all seeing eye baby that was handed to me at the Taj Mahal for a holiday making family to add to their photo collection...

Oh I forgot we went on a honeymoon to a beach hut in goa.. Quite a calm trip that one

just make sure you get out Kochi and its home comforts :-)
I had been there for a month in 2012. Definitely the best holiday ever. Great scenic beauty, and amazingly yum food.

I was told it's home to Yoga and Ayurveda (ancient Indian herbal medicine system). My colleague who's a diabetic for a decade got cured completely after following their yoga regimen and herbal tablets.
only thing putting me off is the lack of alcohol. is it completely dry or does the hotel and local restaurants /bars serve alcoholic drinks?
also how safe is this place? was just reading a news story earlier about India and the dangers. ...
also won't the weather be less than ideal that time of year??
you can get alcohol, at tourist friendly hotels and they have these grim (but hilarious) alcohol shops which consists of a huge pile-on of people trying to get to a hole in a fence type shop to buy their grog. Definitely an experience Also, at some places like Varkala (touristy beach area), you can get booze everywhere but it will be served in tea cups and mugs And your bottle of beer will be camouflaged with napkins and kept out of site.

I'll admit I was concerned about the potential lack of booze it being a 2 week holiday, however, you can find a few beers here and there and the wonderful scenery and food (and people!) more than made up for it... We just had a couple of nights getting tipsy where we could, and the rest just enjoyed tea.

Hey this deal is about a holiday in Kerala. Trust me you don't see anything you mentioned in Kerala. Let's not stereotype !
Please post the link - it helps
How do you add a stopover in Abu Dhabi or Dubai to the flights?
