Found 15th Sep 2013
Just noticed some kindaa campaign going on outside for Lyca Mobile.
Seems like they are throwing away unlimited data on any top up for their freely available SIM cards.
Unlimited data for a fiver - possibly a good deal..!!!

Good question!

Why is this cold? Is there a catch?

There's various bundles to choose from if you go to their web page. However it seems its either one or the other for the unlimited stuff for £5. Calls, texts and data all together costs more.

can anybody who voted cold explain why? looking at website it seems to be a great deal, even if calls are expensive it can serve me as a second sim card for data use. Just have to find out what can happen if I tether....

You agree not to use the SIM Card or the Services and not to permit another person to use your SIM Card or the Services:

(a) in or connected to any other device including modems, dongles and tablet devices, or any other way to connect to a personal computer, which includes using your GSM mobile telephone as a WiFi hotspot in order to connect to multiple devises, and any other form of tethering activity

still worth trying for a fiver. They might not block people anyway. On giffgaff I tethered for almost 1 year.

Good deal ! Min top up is £5

I got a Lyca will check this out

According to this page, if you use more than 3GB during a month your data transfer rate drops to 2G speed. Ouch.

Having said that, it could be a good deal if you definitely know you're not going to exceed 3GB/month but some other networks do have much more generous limits if you're prepared to pay a bit more each month.

How would they know if you tether?
