Customer service is a joke. If your sim card fails or if lyca decides to cut it off. You lose all your credit. They will not refund or even move the credit to a new sim.
My experience of this company is very negative.
Be warned the customer service is not based in the uk.
I was asked by the customer service to goto a non lyca website to re register my details (i played along ).
Then they requested a photo of both sides of my debit card, so they could refund me.
After reporting this to lyca and providing all evidence of the several calls i made , i was told that this didn't happen and to delete my recordings or they would take legal action.
All my calls are logged and recorded.
This comment is my experience of this company and i stand by my comment.

T&C claim tethering is not allowed & the SIM has to be used in a handset

I bought this on bf at £10.90 x 3 and have had no end of problems. I'm now switching again and they are refunding me. I would avoid at all costs. (edited)

But only 20gb if abroad, no matter how much you pay for

From what I know all networks have data caps while roaming. Compared to the rest of the bunch 20GB is not bad, really.

Same carrier as Giffgaff, O2 provides the network. Great deal really! (edited)

I've been on this sim for about 18 months with no issues. The app is good and I've used upto 80gb one month as was tethering loads.

At that point you are free to walk away without financial reprisal, but as long as you pay your dues, and change nothing other than personal details, then the terms of contract are valid.
If your contract included a new phone, then bear in mind you will still be paying for it. But if on sim only then all is good.

Good deal this. Off the tangent, I hope Lebara will follow suit and come out with further good deals for Christmas with the added benefit of free roaming in India.

I wasn't comparing them to others, but pointing out that what you pay for, irrespective of network, is not what you are going to get.
Why should you not get more than 20gb? How was this figure decided across the networks? Is this the break point at which we start eating into their profits?

You are right, but have been like this for the last few years...
And from January, EE AND VODAFONE are charging daily for your allowance to be used abroad... Yeah, your allowance... Paying twice for the same...

Luckily on EE, not if you held the contract before they warned of the change.
My partner has been in Europe since November last year, and no charges incurred, nor will there be.

Surely there will be when your contract comes up for renewal? Or have I misunderstood it?

When / if I renew it.
However, I am happy enough with the plan I am on, so there is no need to change. I would only save pennies, which would get wiped out after more than a week abroad, or I would gain data, of which 10gb is about 7 more than I use. So no change planned.

I suppose this is a topic for a completely separate conversation. What I was trying to say was that it shouldn't be a deciding factor whether this is a good or bad deal as you gonna find similar limitations across all networks. And 20GB is still quite generous compared to 12GB on 3 / Smarty or 15GB on TalkMobile / PlusNet or under 8GB on IDMobile (the £10 pound offer with 24GB data).

They can't stop you from using the sim in a tablet. Was deemed an unfair contract terms some years ago.

i saw this deal and thought it was worth giving it a go even with all the negative stuff around customer service and coverage. My experience is positive to date, in fact i liked it so much, i bought another one @ the 10.90 BF price for my wifes phone. if im not happy at any time, i can simply go and get something similar from another supplier. We were paying approx £45 for two phones, each with 100 gb , ultd mins and ultd text. Now it is half that! I can put the saving towards my fuel bill

If those were really Lyca representatives who tried that on with you, you should report them to Action Fraud
